    I think this entire thread is pretty much a moot point, considering our farm system already blows. We don't really have much to mortgage.

    Probably b/c he was playing like crap when he went on the DL before, so it was unlikely his replacement couldn't match his .577 OPS. That doesn't really make any sense, unless you're suggesting the mental impact will play a big role. What Soriano was doing at the time of his 2 injuries is irrelevant when discussing how they'll be without him. They'll be playing with the same team they played with last time he got injured, the same team they did fine with. Are you serious? A player's performance is irrelevant as to how the team will do without him? You realize that players don't perform at the exact same level throughout the season, right? You'e missing the point. I'm not talking about how Soriano was playing at the time of the injury, because it's irrelevcant (other than the fact that mentally it feels worse). What Soriano was doing at the time of each injury doesn't change anything about the team that they will put on the field in his absence. A team minus a red hot Soriano is exactly the same as a team minus an ice cold Soriano. I'm not sure how much more I can lay this out for you, because it seems like I'm being pretty clear.

    It would be silly to waste resources on a player who wouldn't even have to place to play when Soriano gets back, unless it's somebody who would come very cheap. The guys you mentioned would not come very cheap. The focus should still be on pitching. There's no reason that this team shouldn't be fine without Soriano for a couple months. I mean, he's been what...like their 3rd or 4th best hitter so far this season?

    Papelbon and the Red Sox are coming off as huge d-bags right now. He seems to be forgetting that Coco is the one who started it with his disrty slide. Shelds plunked him (in the hip, not up and in), which is standard practice. If Coco would have just taken his base like a reasonable person, it would have been over with. So basically, Crisp is the one that initially started the problems with his dirty slide and is also the one that started the brawl by unneccessarily charging the mound. So Papelbon looks pretty stupid with the "what goes around comes around" garbage.

    Anybody know what just happened in the Cards game? Gameday says Howard was just plunked and Spinger and Larussa were both ejected.

    Didnt get to watch the whole game. What happened with the ump? He was too fat to move himself out of the way of an Edmonds liner. Men were on 1st and 2nd, so instead of a run scoring on a line drive, we got bases loaded. EPatt singled later on in the inning, which would have scored the tying run. No he wouldn't have. It would have been 1st and 2nd for Patterson on the single.

    Now we have to beat Halladay with Marquis just to avoid an immediate series loss. Then we get to face Kazmir and Shields. Id be amazed if we could go 3-3 on this trip.

    2.89 ERA. Really? It always seems like he's walking guys and getting rocked when he's in ERA for a reliever is a stupid way to gauge performance. The previous pitcher usually takes the era hit. WHIP then?? 1.29 A 1.29 WHIP from a reliever is not very good.
