So then why were they so terrible before the injuries occured? The injuries have been to their offense, not their pitching. Their pitching is horrendous. And no thanks to Blanton. Look at his home/road splits over the past few years. Pretty ugly stuff.
He's had a few 100+ pitch outings lately and he wasn't flashing his best stuff tonight. It's a good move. He looked as good as I've seen him all year. The only rough inning was due to a bunch of cheap hits.
I almost hope they blow it open right here. Cubs offense has nothing tonight and we can't lose ground on the Cards or Brewers so I almost don't even care.
