  1. I like the Dodgers schedule better.
  2. BUT WE NEED A GOOD HITTER, NOT A GOOD OPSER What do you care? The seasons long over as far as you're concerned. Wait, where did I say anything like that? I've never said the Cubs won't make the playoffs.
  3. Or even game 2.
  4. I think that writer might just be jumping to conclusions. I don't see any quotes of Lou saying what the postseason rotation would be, just quotes of his plans for the rest of the regular season. That doesn't mean they have to stick with that order into the playoffs. Even if that guy is right that the top 3 starters would be Zambrano/Dempster/Lilly, that doesn't mean Harden wouldn't get a start. Because of the layout of the DS, the only way your number 2 starter gets 2 starts is if your number 1 starter pitches game 4 on short rest, and I don't think he'll want to do that with Zambrano. Still, it would be kind of stupid to not have Harden pitch towards the beginning of the series. What if it's a sweep? Then he doesn't even get a start.
  5. How about Manny for NL MVP?
  6. BUT WE NEED A GOOD HITTER, NOT A GOOD OPSER
  7. Yahoo mainpage says torn ACL and out for the season for Brady
  8. I'd rather try Fuku in center and Hoffpauir in right against RHP
  9. lololol. derrek lee is a good hitter right now... he just sucks at OPSing
  10. Huh? What does that mean? The Cubs ARE a very good team, they're just not playing well right now. I like how you try to take subtle shots while pretending to compliment us though.
  11. Wait, a .742 OPS is "bordering .800"?
  12. Ummm, Milwaukee had to face Peavy and Young in back to back games. The Padres are the 27 Yankees next to that pathetic Reds team that we lost a series to. Are you serious right now? First of all, Chris Young isn't good. Also, the Brewers actually won the Peavy game. The games they lost were against Shawn Estes (yes, Shawn Estes) and crappy Chris Young. So losing to those 2 guys AT HOME isn't as bad as losing to Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harand on the road? Yeah, that makes no sense and you know it. Anyways, they'll be facing Volquez and Arroyo in that series and they've been pitching pretty well.
  13. It's okay guys... we already clinched a playoff spot... right David?
  14. "Blowing resources" implies that Roberts is a bad player and that anyone would have been able to predict that the Cubs would have been able to trade for Harden like they did AND that DeRosa would have a career year. No, it doesn't. The rumored offer was Gallagher/Veal/Ceda/Cedeno and one other (can't remember who...Patterson?) Trading your top 3 pitching prospects plus 2 others for a minimal upgrade at a position that doesn't need it is a waste of resources, especially when you consider that those parts would be needed later on to upgrade positions that actually need upgrading. Of course we didn't know we'd be able to get Harden, but I think it was pretty much understood around here that we needed another frontline starter and trading 5 guys for Roberts would hurt our chances of getting that done at any point during the season.
  15. I wonder if the people who are trashing badnews for "patting himself on the back" are the same people that wanted to blow resources on Roberts. Hmm.
  16. Most anti-climactic win ever?
  17. Patterson and Bako on base 5 times tonight.
  18. Thank god that idiot threw Lee an 0-2 meatball with the bases juiced last inning
  19. 9 run lead in the 9th and he can't even record an out. Ouch.
  20. I'm pretty sure the problem is that Shark is being Shark. He had only given up 1 earned run in his previous 10 outings (10.1 innings) before tonight. So one bad outing has people saying he is no good? Well I've been skeptical of him all along. I don't see how a guy can go from atrocious in AA to good in the majors in like 2 months. He hasn't looked sharp his last few outings that I've seen.. flaling being in the count a lot. Because his secondary pitches and control and mechanics improved. Well that's my point, his control has not been good lately.
  21. The guy had 13 appearances in August (13 IP) and gave up ZERO runs and now with a 10 run lead he gives up a few runs and suddenly maybe he should be left off the playoff roster. Unbelievable. Well yeah, the leaving him off the playoff roster thing was kind of silly. His control has not been good lately though, and that's a big part of why he struggled in the minors and why he was dominant when he first came up with the Cubs.
