  1. mark teixeira can't even ops .850 as a switch hitter in [expletive] yankee stadium. yeah, awesome contract.
  2. Strikeouts don't matter didn't you get the memo that's an incredibly obnoxious comment, and you know it. the "strikeouts don't matter that much" argument is made in refernece to how the strikeouts actually affect the game. when determining how a player is likely to perform in future situations, strikeouts are very important.
  3. what is wrong with ramirez's disposition? compared to most athletes who performed at a level as high as him, he was ridiculously humble. he never complained. he never casued any problems in the clubhouse. he never ever gave the media a chance to force some kind of controversy on him. ramirez's disposition was fantastic. he kept his mouth shut, produced, and never caused problems. i'd say he was a model team member.
  4. Career K% Howard- 27.4 Fielder- 18.5 this argument is laughable
  5. Spoken like a guy who has added nothing to the discussion. The [expletive]? Is this the same guy jumping between accounts? well, that puts this argument to rest. NEXT.
  6. these kids are supposed to be pissed, yet every kid they show is smiling and laughing
  7. lol @ the guy pulling the rooftop camera thing out of the truck and then realizing he couldnt do anything more with it
  8. dude you can't trick people into thinking you won an argument by saying "next"
  9. not just for life, UNTIL THE END OF TIIIIIIMMEEEEEEEE
  10. yea tom rinaldi, let's give props to the kids who are being morons in a civil manner
  11. i want to murder them so bad
  12. wow look at these morons smile and laughing
  13. basically just talked about the stupidity of the kids rioting for a football coach while the families of the victims are sitting at home watching them support paterno on tv. his voice was kind of rising a little bit and you could tell he was pissed and wanted to say more.
  14. "he maybe could have done more, he said he could have done more. what more do you want?" tremendous
  15. I can't believe you are adding fuel to this ridiculous line of attack. I know it is popular to attack Kaplan and call him racist, but it is pathetic that just because he calls out certain members of the club he is all of the sudden racist. Have you looked at the 40 man roster lately to see how many caucasians were on the roster? And on the big league team, they are definitely not in the majority. Out of the white guys on the roster, point out the ones that you believe are lazy or appear to have a poor work ethic? Wells? (maybe) As for an answer to your question, Hundley's work ethic was called into severe question. Farnsworth was another guy that took a lot of heat for partying too much and not being prepared for games. Kaplan piled on Prior quite a bit for being a wimp and lazy. More recently, Wells was picked on in the media for having a poor work ethic. But I guess that doesn't forward your story line. I'm pretty sure that Kaplan heaped praise on Lee during his period with the Cubs and I remember the night when Soriano was signed, how ecstatic he was the Cubs signed him. I think it is sad that he can't be free to criticism players without people questioning whether he is a racist or not. I asked a simple question whose answer could have been evidence for either side of the argument. Your question assumes racism. Even though it is not deserved I think this thread has shown many examples of "white" players that have been criticized. For being lazy?
  16. good for steve levy for calling out those idiots
  17. this is crazy.
  18. i basically felt that way when they were winning. they kept blowing games (even when they were winning games they'd often give up a lead and then have to come back at the end) and we were still seeing those lackadaisical efforts that plagues the team last year. also, i basically said the same thing during the offseason. i figured we'd be about the same team, but with assets and cap space to get better at the deadline.
  19. umfan... i didn't mean they were the same team personnel wise, just that they feel like the same exact team. oh, and campbell's loss is not offset by leddy. it seems like campbell's bad contract tricked people into thinking he wasn't as good as he actually is.
  20. i don't think we added talent in the offseason, considering we lost campbell (not complaining about that trade). i'm not saying there was anything different they could have done this offseason, but i don't think this team is any better. the loss of campbell offset the talent we got from guys like brunette. the good news is, we have lots of cap space and young players. we still look great for the future (including this year), but as of right now, this team isnt really better than last years. i just realized our goal differential was down to +1. not good.
  21. mitch williams is on it? wtf. there goes my optimism. rule #1 of starting an analytic based show: no ex-players allowed
  22. Why do we want to trade Zambrano if we're not getting anything of value back and/or are being forced to eat some of his contract? Just keep him. We need starting pitching and with Ramirez gone, we have plenty of room to sign Pujols/Prince and keep Zambrano around.
  23. not really surprising. this is basically the same team as last year. all we did was add "toughness".
