  1. i said for a really good goalie. as crazy as it sounds, we'd have been way better off this season at least. when kane isn't involved in scores, he's close to worthless, and his point rate has dropped each of the last 2 seasons. i'm just saying, this year was basically punted because we didn't have a goalie. look at the western conference right now. are we the favorites if we had a good goalie and no kane? crawford didn't give us a chance, and i'd rather get a proven great goalie for kane than give up smaller parts and trade for a guy who might suck and kill another season for us. if somebody offered something like tuuka rask (i know the bruins wouldn't do that, just an example), you wouldn't at least consider it?
  2. what if you throw sutcliffe in there
  3. whatever, let them enjoy their series win and magic production from huet while they can. they'll realize after they lose to nashville how short lived and irrelevant their success against the blackhawks was.
  4. @espnchijon: Quenneville choking up a bit as he talks about Hossa. "He hasn't felt very well at all."
  5. remember a couple months ago when someone asked if we should trade kane for a good goalie? let's revisit that, and boy did we miss brian campbell this season
  6. no, i'd rather have the enjoyment of seeing them get knocked out in the first round
  7. bye bye canucks
  8. i feel like byrd was like the most boring cub of all-time. not good enough to be exciting, but good enough to not disappoint or suck. relatively insignificant contract, and played on irrelevant teams. he kind of represents that "whatever" feeling i've felt about the cubs the last few years.
  9. maybe stamkos See there might be players you could argue are better or have more value (like Giroux, Stamkos, Malkin, Crosby), but even if I were to agree, the difference in talent is not much and not enough to overcome the emotional attachment that Toews has built in Chicago. It's like LeBron is better than Rose, but most Bulls fans wouldnt trade Rose for LeBron. But the gap between Rose and LeBron is even bigger IMO than Toews and someone like Stamkos he's just the perfect combination of player and leader. he has no flaws in his game. he's young, he's already won almost everything, and guys just follow him because he always backs it up in the big moments. all that cliche stuff like leadership/grit etc etc actually matters in hockey. i'm not saying he's necessarily better than all those guys, but would i trade him for them? i couldn't do it. he's just too perfect.
  10. the only 2 i think i'd really do would be crosby and maybe stamkos. malkin is a couple years older than toews so i think i'd take the overall game/leadership of toews. giroux would have to prove himself for another year or 2. i can't imagine giving up toews for him right now. toews just does too much.
  11. is there anybody in the nhl you'd trade toews for straight up? the only guy i can think of is crosby, if he proves his head isn't broken
  12. then why do you read him?
  13. i kind of feel like i'd rather the bulls play boston in the second round than indiana. indiana plays us tough, even with rose at 100%. the bulls have played boston 3 times in a row without rose and alost won all 3.
  14. apparently nobody in phoenix has a real problem with the hit http://espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/story/_/id/7828639/2012-stanley-cup-playoffs-phoenix-coyotes-raffi-torres-suspended-hearing-hit-chicago-blackhawks-marian-hossa
  15. i'm more worried about the likely loss of hossa. without hossa, they're better than us.... and they have home ice back. also who knows what to expect with crawford now. what a brutal goal.
  16. like i said.... there is ground between gooning it up and stepping up the physical play. the blackhawks weren't even hitting. they didn't even look upset. i just wish my team showed a little bit of life after something like that happening. the crowd was jacked up after the first goal, and then we just went to sleep and that was that.
  17. the flyers seem to be doing ok with it.
  18. i expect them to play with the intensity and physicality that postseason hockey requires... especially when on home ice.
  19. Because they know Shanahan will suspend them for 5 games, and let the Yotes players go untouched. also because it's the playoffs, each game is really important and it's pretty damn stupid to keep running around trying to hurt the other team and putting your team shorthanded. yea, because there's no ground between doing stupid things and stepping up the physicality.
  20. Because they know Shanahan will suspend them for 5 games, and let the Yotes players go untouched. that's an excuse. these guys have been soft for the last 2 seasons. is there any other team that lets that happen to their second best player in the postseason and doesn't even try to do anything about it?
  21. i mean, he's done... right? when he left on a stretcher i pretty much assumes he was out for the season.
  22. The thing that pisses me off is that every time we tried to fight, we were the only ones that got a penalty. Bollig's penalty after Torres hit and then the scrum at the end of the 2nd where Toews got 2 minutes. It's insane, I'm not saying we should get calls because we're the home team but we certainly shouldnt be hosed like that. it's because this team doesn't play physical whatsoever, so it's obvious when they're trying to retaliate. again, a team with any balls whatsoever would have turned up the physical play and intensity when hossa went down. start giving guys little slashes when the refs arent looking. snow the goalie. get in guys faces. do [expletive] SOMETHING. this is playoff hockey. it was like they didn't even care what they just did to their second best player. just a soft team. you can say what you want about carcillo and i hate him too, but at least that dude would have stood up for his teammate.
  23. i'm so glad that we've fallen so far from being relevant to the cup that we're saying things like "we have a chance" when we're playing a mediocre team in the first round of the playoffs.
  24. torres likely knocks hossa out for the season with an illegal hit... toews retaliates with a face wash. good job boys. way to let them make you their bitches.
