  1. boring as hell
  2. just because the stretches you listed start on the 1st days of the month don't make them less arbitrary than the one i referenced. i really don't think it's making any kind of leap to say that a 26-24 run is a good stretch of mediocrity. Killing everyone for 6 weeks and then having a terrible 2 weeks and calling it a mediocre 2 months is pretty disingenuous. I chose those endpoints to illustrate that it's a slump, and because I didn't want to go further back into April where the Cubs were even better. The Cubs were other worldly in April, elite in May and the first 3 weeks of June, and garbage the last 2 weeks. Trying to imply that they've been less than very good for a super long stretch is fatalism for fatalism's sake. you're still just choosing the way you want to split up the season. i don't understand how you can realistically argue that a 26-24 run isn't a long stretch of mediocrity by picking out smaller sample sizes in the middle of it. i get it. it's annoying when fans are constantly fatalistic with sports, especially when the team is at legitimately good as this one. that doesn't mean you have to take it to the other extreme.
  3. just because the stretches you listed start on the 1st days of the month don't make them less arbitrary than the one i referenced. i really don't think it's making any kind of leap to say that a 26-24 run is a good stretch of mediocrity. even if they play the rest of the season at that pace they still likely make the playoffs and then it's all crapshoot from there anyways. where did i say otherwise?
  4. i think it's the 2 months of mediocrity and the realization that we don't have a superteam Not playing at a 130 win pace isn't mediocrity. Prior to the Cards series the Cubs had played at a 108 win pace since May 1st, and at a 114 win pace since June 1st. just because the stretches you listed start on the 1st days of the month don't make them less arbitrary than the one i referenced. i really don't think it's making any kind of leap to say that a 26-24 run is a good stretch of mediocrity.
  5. i think it's the 2 months of mediocrity and the realization that we don't have a superteam Weren't/aren't we playing at a 90 win pace in that time? 26-24 over the last 50

  7. what if kd secretly loved chicago and we signed him out of nowhere
  8. you know exactly what i'm saying. you don't have to pretend like you haven't been disappointed in the team lately. I'm disappointed that they've been losing more lately. They are better than this. And I am always upset about losing. I wouldn't say that I am upset with the season, though, when we are 20+ games over .500, have the division wrapped up already, and have a ton of exciting, good young players. i shouldn't have said the season overall is getting disappointing. i meant that it's been trending in a disappointing direction. it's not just the stretch of mediocrity, it's a bunch of small disappointments piling up, like the middle relief, jake, and heyward.
  9. perspective is the only reason i said it. they're having a great season because of the scorching start, but they've been disappointing for like 2 months now. the fact that we're keeping our 10 game lead due to playing in a terrible division doesn't make the mediocrity any less disheartening. We have the best record in baseball and are going to win over 100 games. I don't find that disheartening. you know exactly what i'm saying. you don't have to pretend like you haven't been disappointed in the team lately.
  10. We have a double digit division lead. Perspective. It could be worse. perspective is the only reason i said it. they're having a great season because of the scorching start, but they've been disappointing for like 2 months now. the fact that we're keeping our 10 game lead due to playing in a terrible division doesn't make the mediocrity any less disheartening.
  11. coming away with campbell and kempny kind of feels like a miracle

  13. lots of madness going on today. taylor hall for adam larsson and subban for weber. bob mckenzie also just tweeted that stamkos is coming back to tb.
  14. i would just kill myself if that happened to me
  15. mlb has only been seeing nice guy kris. you don't want to see angry kris.
  16. It would move more if it still included fowler. He goes, we go. He goes to the plate, we go to the bathroom. heyward is still there
