    I'm guessing Hill will be up in a few days to replace one of Aardsma/Wuertz but Dusty needs 2 relievers today to protect the bullpen from foul balls since the pen was taxed the last 2 days.

    Actually I think Peoria is a distinct possiblity for Petrick when Samardzija goes back to Notre Dame. I hope. I don't want him at Boise all season.

    A few questions about Samardzija....... How many starts did Samardzija have at Boise? Overall, how did he look? Will the promotion to Peoria be troubling? Is this a big jump for him with only a minimal amount of starts at Boise? Are those 5 HBP very troubling or just attributed to something such as nerves? How many starts will he be able to get in before he has to report back to Notre Dame? He had 5 starts in Boise and is expected to have 3 starts in Peoria I believe. So far he's been dominating against RH's but LH's have been crushing him. Everything I've seen says 2 starts in Peoria.

    A few questions about Samardzija....... How many starts did Samardzija have at Boise? 5 starts. Good, but not great. His FB was in the low 90s (clocked at 92-94 mph in his last start), but had little movement. His slider was much improved from reports around the draft and his change has come along (Samardzija was happy with it). I don't think it's troubling at all. He probably could have handled starting in Peoria straight from ND, and even if he doesn't do too well, he won't have much time in Peoria so it shouldn't be a big deal. It's unlikely that it's nerve. He does need to work on his control. Seems like most of the Boise starters have racked up the HBPs. More than likely, 2. By the way, his next start (and probably last of the season) will be in Peoria next Friday. Just a heads up for folks who might want to see him.

Fabian Jimenez Angulo and Joel Santo (acquired from the Padres for Scott Williamson) are expected to join the Chiefs tomorrow in Lansing and be available to pitch on Monday.

    Iowa and Memphis are scoreless in the bottom of the second. Hill so far: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 Ks, HBP. West Tenn is scoreless after 1. JR Mathes is back after missing 2 starts due to injury. Daytona down 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th. Carlos Perez: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 Ks, 3 BBs. Peoria is up 1-0 in the middle of the 6th. Estrada: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 Ks, 2 BBs. Davey Gregg has the Chiefs' run, Ryan Norwood with the RBI.

    You're right, they wouldn't crack the Cubs' top 30. But that's about what I'd expect out of Williamson. He might be an ML reliever, but I'm sure he's not looked that highly because of his struggles this year, his injury history and his calling out Dusty.

    The Cubs get 19-year old lefty Fabian Jimenez Angulo and 22-year old righty Joel Santo from Class A Fort Wayne. Angulo is 5-7 with a 4.43 ERA. Santo is 5-6 with a 5.51 ERA. Joel Santo was rated by BA as the Padres' #16 prospect going into the season. He's 22, has one of the best pure arms in their system, very projectable, has smooth mechanics and an effortless delivery. FB in the low 90s (tops out at 95), his slider and change need a lot of work though. He might eventually end up in the pen and he's got considerable upside. Fabian Jiminez (no Angulo) was the #29 prospect in the Padres' system going into the season. He'll be 20 in about a month, and has a lot of upside. His FB is in the low 90s too and has topped out at 94, but has often been in the 80s because of poor mechanics. His offspeed pitch and changeup are even further behind than Santo's and his control and command are bad right now. He's very young and has a lot of raw skills, though. Both guys sound interesting with some potential, but not worth much. About what you'd expect for someone like Williamson (I'd think this is what relievers will be valued at - not the Majewski trade).

    Knobs at #25 was a decent player for alot of years and was even an All-Star. Mo Vaughn wasn't a shabby player either.
