  1. Rapada is a LOOGY, not necessarily even a one-inning guy while these guys are starters/long-relievers. Also, Sean Marshall came up to start the season; part of the reason Rapada might be ready is his success in the AFL which obviously came after the season. How can Kevin not be included in your sig pic? Or Creed? Thats an outrage. I personally want Karen included.

  3. Should be fun. I think Howland has the guys conditioned for the conditions and cramping possibilities. Potential UCLA-UK matchup in the second round (bring it on, Dobson and UK). :)

  9. Except we don't know what would have happened if he could have stayed in the minors and stayed a starter. Of course he might not have gotten back into shape if he had been rostered by the Cubs. Coulda been good as trade value too.
  10. According to a recent Ask BA column, Jim Callis noted that Samson got a $155,000 bonus, as did Cliff Andersen (OF, 9th rounder). Kevin Kreier (RHP, 20th rounder) got a $100,000 bonus. That means that the Cubs signed 7 guys with a bonus of $100,000 or greater (Colvin, Samardzija, Andersen, Huseby, Rundle, Kreier, Samson).

  12. BA's top 15 prospects in the HWL, obviously no Cubs: 1. Joba Chamberlain, rhp, West Oahu (Yankees) 2. John Mayberry Jr., of, West Oahu (Rangers) 3. Dexter Fowler, of, Waikiki (Rockies) 4. 13. USC and Ohio State will win tomorrow, but I'll root for Cal and Michigan.
  14. I wouldn't protect Harben.
  15. Yes-an article the other day made reference to a Cubs trade a couple years ago (the Lee trade maybe) that was during this time where they traded a PTBNL who was then named after the Rule 5 draft. Yeah, in the Lee trade, the Cubs were able to trade away Mike Nannini as a PTBNL.
  16. Good to see Alan Dunn will now be minor league pitching coordinator...keep rising up the ranks. :)
  17. Last week, all the White Sox players in Venezula pulled out. Apparently the Tiburones had a mutual disagreement with coach Razor Shines about how much input Shines should have and so he left the team. In a sign of solidarity, the White Sox players (including Josh Fields, Ryan Sweeney and Sean Tracey) left the team. This apparently upset Ozzie Guillen because he wanted to see Josh Fields in the OF and never got that chance.

  20. In the battle of USCs to open Southern Cal's new arena on campus, the Gamecocks win it 80-74 in OT. At halftme, the Trojans honored Ryan Francis, their PG who was murdered in Shreveport last spring.
