  1. Yeesh, Phoenix beat the Nets 161-157 (in double OT).
  2. Wow, what a defensive battle at Notre Dame.
  3. 1. you don't really know if the Cubs are only getting 25K for those rights from Cinci. 2. maybe Lou said he doesn't think the kid can turn it around. My positive feeling earlier was based on Lou having seen him in ST for a couple years in TB. Maybe he gave a negative scouting report. Lou isn't the only one who's seen Hamilton up close in the organization...don't forget Tim Wilken. Both of them probably had some input.
  4. This would be a great deal for Toronto. They won't be able to afford Wells after this year, and Kemp might end up being as good as Wells in the future. I agree.
  5. And that is why he had the TJS. I think pitching after the rain delay in 2002 played a big role in his injury.
  6. DePodesta? The man that brought LA its second worst season since moving the franchise there in 1958? I understand why people are intrigued by him, but he didn't exactly perform all that well in LA. To say there are no other options is pretty shortsighted. He also brought the Dodgers to the playoffs in a season when no one thought they had a chance. Two years doesn't seem like the best way to judge a GM.
  7. You're doing well, especially if you can package some of the cheap young pitchers for major league talent.
  8. What do you think it would take? I dunno. If they really are disillusioned with him and think of Young as their #1, maybe we don't need to sell the farm. I'd pull no punches trying to get him though. You want Hill? Sure. Pie? Veal? Murton? None of those guys are off limits. Jacque Jones should interest them too. I'm sure they want something in the way of big league talent coming back.
  9. By August, the best pitcher in KC's rotation will be Luke Hochevar.
  10. You're interested in Garcia despite the drop in velocity? I'd pass.
  11. We'd be trading Gordon as well in that deal. Gordon + Deng + Thomas + a definite lottery pick. Definitely not. Plus if that deal actually happened (God forbid), we'd be seeing much more of Griffin and Khryapa. That's ridiculous. Chris Mannix and/or the Timberwolves have ridiculous expectations for Garnett. And that's before you consider Paxson's trading history.
  12. Yeah, Deng + Thomas + a lottery pick? No.
  13. Dontrelle? Miguel Cabrerra after he trades Crede for Lackey?
  14. Former Cub Justin Jones was also taken with the 6th pick of the Triple-A portion of the draft by the Nationals.
  15. I gotta agree with goony, seems a bit too major to be quickly back at the phones no matter how routine those angioplasty procedures are these days.
  16. Yep, he's pretty much the best young pitcher the Astros have right now (although some people argue Troy Patton is better, but whatever). I'd be one of those some people. :) Good trade for the White Sox, even though Taveras is vastly overrated. It's becoming obvious the Sox are stockpiling young guys for a trade (Floyd, Gonzalez, Hirsch).
  17. Wow, Dayton. Better hope that Meche can turn it around.
  18. Frankly, I expect the Cubs to trade Fontenot. They don't seem to think he can be a utility guy at all.
  19. Campusano and Holdzkom are equally big losses, imo. Both have positives and both have negatives (Holdzkom: health and control, Campusano: health) and are close enough to sticking for a full season. I was surprised Campusano was selected because the Cubs hid the status of his health really well. Cubs lost in the major league portion: 7. Milwaukee: LHP Ed Campusano - traded to Detroit 17. Houston: RHP Lincoln Holdzkom 21. Toronto: SS Jason Smith Minor league portion: 2. Kansas City: 2B Richard Lewis 26. Oakland: RHP Andy Shipman In the minor league portion of the draft, the Cubs picked up RHP James Henderson from the Nationals.
  20. Not to mention they can't play any of those three in center because of Slappy. Right. And they're looking at Luis Gonzalez. He is a bottom 5 GM in the majors imo. Let's see.... The Dodgers got Schmidt and Wolf The Cubs got Lilly and might get Meche You forgot Juan Pierre. Nomar, Part 2? I'm calling it, but I hope I'm wrong. Disagree, I think signing Juan Pierre to that contract wasn't a good move.
