  1. This doesn't apply to Campusano. It's really strange that the Blue Jays took Jason Smith when he was availble as a free agent about a month ago. why is Holdzkom different than other Rule 5 picks? teams don't usually have to roster drafted players after they are returned, do they? No, teams don't usually have to. Holdzkom and Smith were previously outrighted to the minors so they have the right to exercise an option to become a free agent if the Cubs outright them again.
  2. Bulls up 5 with less than 5 minutes left.
  3. Jonathan Mayo's (MiLB.com) Top 50 Prospects: The only Cub is Felix Pie at #38.
  4. Neckbeard can. He's got the body type for it, at least. At the rate he goes out drinking, probably. :)
  5. He claims he's completely healthy:

  7. Can someone answer this? Maybe with a medical background? Because it's a severe pull and might even be a torn hamstring. Not just the standard pulled hamstring.
  8. This Saturday? This Saturday is a day off for all teams in the Dominican. maybe it's on delay or something, I was looking on the ESPN schedule online and they are there on Saturday the 9th. Has them against Aguilas Cibaenas if that helps. 11 AM eastern. Hrm, Licey plays Aguilas Cibaenas tomorrow - you might be right about the delay.
  9. Leones win 5-3 despite Jose Macias batting third, box: C H. Blanco 0/2, R, RBI, BB (15) Overall:: 29/132, .220/.304/.303/.607, 1 HBP, 15 BB, 20 K, 2 HR, 5 2B, 1/2 SB
  10. This Saturday? This Saturday is a day off for all teams in the Dominican.
  11. Licey lost 8-4: CF F. Pie 0/4, 2 K (25) Overall: 27/125, .216/.263/.272/.535, 1 HBP, 7 BB, 25 K, 1 HR, 4 2B, 5/5 SB
  12. Teams do it all the time in the Rule 5. Seems like they didn't like anyone else in their slot and the Cubs didn't feel Hamilton could stick in the big leagues (or Lou and Wilken weren't fans) so they helped out the Reds.
  13. From AZPhil at The Cub Reporter: This doesn't apply to Campusano. It's really strange that the Blue Jays took Jason Smith when he was availble as a free agent about a month ago.
  14. They looked awful. I don't know how they beat us by 15 at their place. They are awful, and I don't know how they did that either. I just hope they lose and get a lottery pick. And fire Billy King too. The Sixers definitely need to trade Webber. He's a shell of his former self. The worst thing I saw for Philly was their interior defense. Wow, there can not be a worse interior D in the NBA. They're bad outside too. Kyle Korver tries hard, but he's just so bad on defense. It's unfortunate, because he's one of the few guys on that team who can shoot from outside. Webber is untradeable, probably... he's earning about 10% of his $20M salary and probably will do the same next year. I really hope they trade Iverson. Not because I don't like him, but because I DO like him, and I want to see him on a team that could give a run at going deep into the playoffs. The Sixers are going nowhere, with or without him. They could probably get a couple of good young players or a high draft pick for him at the trade deadline, too. Any mention of AI makes me remember this video clip:
  15. Yeesh, Phoenix beat the Nets 161-157 (in double OT).
  16. Wow, what a defensive battle at Notre Dame.
  17. 1. you don't really know if the Cubs are only getting 25K for those rights from Cinci. 2. maybe Lou said he doesn't think the kid can turn it around. My positive feeling earlier was based on Lou having seen him in ST for a couple years in TB. Maybe he gave a negative scouting report. Lou isn't the only one who's seen Hamilton up close in the organization...don't forget Tim Wilken. Both of them probably had some input.
  18. This would be a great deal for Toronto. They won't be able to afford Wells after this year, and Kemp might end up being as good as Wells in the future. I agree.
  19. And that is why he had the TJS. I think pitching after the rain delay in 2002 played a big role in his injury.
  20. DePodesta? The man that brought LA its second worst season since moving the franchise there in 1958? I understand why people are intrigued by him, but he didn't exactly perform all that well in LA. To say there are no other options is pretty shortsighted. He also brought the Dodgers to the playoffs in a season when no one thought they had a chance. Two years doesn't seem like the best way to judge a GM.
  21. You're doing well, especially if you can package some of the cheap young pitchers for major league talent.
  22. What do you think it would take? I dunno. If they really are disillusioned with him and think of Young as their #1, maybe we don't need to sell the farm. I'd pull no punches trying to get him though. You want Hill? Sure. Pie? Veal? Murton? None of those guys are off limits. Jacque Jones should interest them too. I'm sure they want something in the way of big league talent coming back.
