  1. Glad to hear but maybe don’t pitch him everytime a competent reliever gives up a baserunner up 4 in the 9th.
  2. As a 19 year old shortstop in High A, the offensive bar could not be lower. So in that sense, his ~.650 OPS is actually pretty encouraging. For example, Gleyber Torres when we traded him was a 19 year old in High A slashing 275/.359/.433 and was pretty universally considered a Top 50 prospect. I think people forget how bad a first half Torres had in 2016. I was convinced he was getting demoted to single-A until he turned it on the month before he was traded.

  5. Well, they sold their soul to...lose Game 7 of the World Series.
  6. Do it. I was really high on Schwarber in the run up to that draft.
  7. Underwood has 10 Ks through 5. He has also given up 4 ER and has 4 BB.
  8. Masahiro Tanaka left the Yankees-Mets game after apparently hurting himself running the bases. ETA: Stiffness in both hamstrings.
  9. Yep. Like Ademan last summer and Paredes two summers ago.
  10. Happ was drafted about where he was projected to go. Obviously they could have still used that data to draft him over others. Schwarber was the surprise, he was expected to go at best 1.8 but likely in the teens. Given what he did to ramp up for the World Series, I wouldn't be shocked if he scored very well on those sort off tests.
  11. I think he's already the org's #1 prospect but if he's going to be around a .900 OPS all season with his defensive reputation and age related to league, he's on his way to being a top 50 prospect in baseball. Maybe top 25. Yeah, I think that if he keeps this up he will be will compare pretty favorable to Francisco Mejia at a similar point in his development. That's an elite guy. I would say that we have a pretty clear top 3 of Amaya/Alzolay/Lange. After that I think is where you can go in different directions. I'd actually compare him favorably to the Dodgers' Keibert Ruiz at this time last year since he split his time between both A-ball levels at age 19 last year.
  12. Ohh, some of the hitters drafted did well on the Mookie Betts neuro testing. That's exciting.
  13. One of the reasons Brennan Davis, Cole Roederer and Kohl Franklin might be ranked lower in the prospect publications than where the Cubs picked them and will pay them is that they were all injured and missed good chunks of the season where a lot of scouts didn't get to see them. The Cubs clearly saw all three of these guys on good days before they were hurt so it'll be interesting to see if they have a better read on their abilities than the general consensus.
  14. I think he's already the org's #1 prospect but if he's going to be around a .900 OPS all season with his defensive reputation and age related to league, he's on his way to being a top 50 prospect in baseball. Maybe top 25.

  19. Not a bad high-A debut for Abbott: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K.
