  1. And Sharma said that Brown could still help the big league bullpen this season.

  3. And the inherited run scores. Another start were a reliever ruined a potential scoreless outing for Ferris.
  4. Got two guys in the 4th. Struck one out, walked one and his day is over. Great evening for 2022 Kantrovitz.
  5. Yeah, 52 pitches. He hasn’t topped 60 so I think he’s done or gets one guy next inning.
  6. His final line. Great AA debut.
  7. 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 56-41 pitches-strikes 2 over the minimum now thanks to the 2 hits (one double play) and a strikeout WP in the 4th.
  8. Horton now at 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 31 pitches (23 strikes)
  9. Cade Horton with an IF single, a 4-6-3 GIDP and a groundout for a 5-pitch 2nd inning. 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 15 pitches-12 strikes
  10. Cade Horton with a 1-2-3 first with 2 strikeouts in his Tennessee debut.
  11. The top Korean prep pitcher in the 2023 class got $750k and it sounds like the kid you're referring to - Jang Hyun-seok - is better so I think Hyun-seok will wait till the 2024 signing period and get 7 figures. The Cubs are tied to Fernando Cruz for either "around" $4 million (per BA) or "about" $4.5 million (per FanGraphs) with a pool space of $5,152,000 so they have somewhere from $652k to $1.152 million remaining. Admittedly they might have already tied that money up with someone else who hasn't been reported.
  12. Per Fangraphs, the Cubs did send Tampa $220k in IFA pool space (they didn’t actually send money; the Cubs pool is just reduced by that amount and Tampa’s increased by that amount): https://blogs.fangraphs.com/rays-add-depth-without-using-40-man-space-seattle-scoops-dfad-bazardo/ This was a trade for the 1/15/23 IFA pool space. You can only trade current year pool money and this period goes through 12/15. By my notes, after the just announced signing of Dayan Rivero, the Cubs had $270k before this trade with Tampa unless I missed a bonus besides Derniche Valdez, Ludwing Espinoza, Ángel Cepeda, Eriandys Ramón, Alexey Lumpoy and Dayan Rivero. FYI, they were close to some reliever trades when time ran out yesterday. I thought we were on the right track thinking the Cubs were just getting lower on their 2023 CBT commitment in advance of acquiring a reliever with this Sampson trade but they also got the Nationals to pay down Jeimer’s salary so I’m not quite as sure now.
  13. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa vs. Toledo, 12:08 pm Tennessee vs. Chattanooga, 6:00 pm South Bend vs. Wisconsin, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Down East (resumption of game suspended on 8/1), 4:30 pm Myrtle Beach at Down East, TBD ACL Cubs vs. ACL A's, 8:00 pm DSL Cubs Red at DSL LA Dodgers Mega, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Blue have the day off Probable Starters: Iowa: TBD Tennessee: RHP Chris Kachmar (47 IP, 4.60 ERA, 5.34 FIP, 52 K, 16 BB) South Bend: RHP Brody McCullough (16.2 IP, 5.40 ERA, 4.62 FIP, 14 K, 6 BB) Myrtle Beach: LHP Jackson Ferris (31.2 IP, 3.69 ERA, 3.21 FIP, 42 K, 20 BB)
  14. Moisés Ballesteros up to an .878 OPS as a 19-year old in high-A.
