  1. Personally, I think most other teams' fans/writers are just as obnoxious.
  2. I have full faith the sun will work its magic on Mulder. :sunny:
  3. Yes, RHP Pedro Astacio (6-10, 4.69 ERA) is San Diego's game 2 starter. Poor Padre fans. LHP Mark Mulder (16-8, 3.64 ERA) for the Cards. The only hope we have is that it's day game (Mulder day games: 2-5, 6.86 ERA, .350 BAA). :D
  4. Jim Callis answered a few questions in regards to draft yesterday at Ask BA. He gave a the draft order as it currently stands (Cubs pick 13), Allan Simpson's top 10 prospects and a little information on what the draft looks like. The highlights: Hopefully Drew Stubbs hires Scott Boras as his agent. :D
  5. It seems like new ownership wants to go on a different direction. From what I have read here and other places LaMar sounded like one crazy dude. Who knows, maybe not playing the kids this year POed ownership as well. There have been grumblings that ownership is on Upton and Young being kept in the minors so the Devil Rays can have control of them longer. Who knows what's going on with the Rays?
  6. I was at that game. Don't remember a 96. He hit 94 though. Mostly around 91 with his fastball. Then again, that was a long time ago. Sorry, it was 95: http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/minors/04league20s/mwl.html (Sean's #9)
  7. I'm guessing I'm wrong - I thought we got cable a year later, but I guess not.
  8. Interesting, that game was on FOX too. Are you sure? i'm pretty sure i saw the replay on ESPN classic not to long ago and it was Morgan & Miller calling the game. I say FOX because I saw the game at home and didn't have cable at the time. :-k
  9. I believe the bloody sock negates those sorts of restrictions.
  10. For Ted's sake, it'd be wise if he played corner exclusively. He'd be a top-5 pick and has a much better chance being a superstar in the NFL playing corner.
  11. Interesting, that game was on FOX too.
  12. Right, but they don't have to stay there. I guess I'm lumping all the minor league guys together in my mind, vs. the major leaguers. Ahh, I see where you're coming from. I'd protect everyone on your list but Ryu (I'd protect him if there was space, but Pie, Sing, Nolasco, Marshall and Marmol are musts to be added in my eyes).
  13. Can't give the full report so I'll do a little blurb: Best prospect in the Cards system, he throws a 92-93 mph FB and tops out at 95. His changeup sinks and has improved this season, his slider is effective. He had the best command amongst PCL pitchers according to the managers. The major concern is health - has been injured for five consecutive seasons (3 at USC, then 2 in the Cards system).
  14. That was fun! :D The most fun I've had at a baseball game since Game 2 of the 2002 World Series. There were quite a few Yankee fans (not as many as Cubs fans when the Cubs came to Anaheim last year) and they were annoying, but we got the last laugh. I'm impressed anyone hit a HR with the winds blowing in, Rivera's shot was a bomb. I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera. :(
  15. Once again, on Rich's FB: Also:
  16. Guzman, Pinto and Aardsma are already on the 40-man, dkwg.
  17. And David Wells hangs one. 5-4, White Sox. :x
  18. As long as Dick Pole isn't the new pitching coach.
  19. I believe the NY-Penn League is short-season A ball, so the Cubs would have to move out of the NWL and Boise to get a team in that league. The Cubs have already pulled out of Lansing - their low-A ball team moved to Peoria.
  20. The other minor leaguer was Bo Flowers.
  21. Based on one playoff start for Hudson (and none for Mulder)? Hudson had a much better regular season. Marcus Giles double! Hudson: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6245 Mulder: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6393 Please explain how Hudson is "much better" and remember he spent time on the DL. Personally I think they both get too much respect. You're right, it's not "much" better, but Hudson does have the advantage in ERA, WHIP, BAA and BB/K but all are much closer than they were earlier in the season (and I was going off my memory of how they were doing in August). I agree both are overrated, but I think Mulder is overrated more because of the hand he throws with.
  22. Nice to see Boston up 4-0 already. I'm off to the Angels game, the Red Sox better hold on. :)
