    Yea their extremely well positioned if they feel like going off on a run, but even discussing it is false hope and I won't allow myself to dwell on it too long.     Can you imagine going 5-11 and still having a chance to host a playoff game? LOL. Rooting for it to happen will be the highlight of the rest of my NFL season. Unfortunately it's so convoluted it has no chance. However a losing record from that division actually does have a shot so that's what I'm cheering for, along with at least one 10 win team from the AFC missing, preferably Ravens or Browns so I can laugh at my friends' misery.     The idiot in my league who traded Manning(out of keeper options) and Hillman to the top guy in our league. In return he got a $7 Russell Wilson and $25 CJ Spiller. Neither are likely to be anything but fair market keepers at best. While it was totally obvious for this guy to trade Manning since he was in last place and no longer had keeper rights he sold him to basically the first bidder with no real rush and this guy has been head and shoulders above the competition all year already. Granted Manning just laid an egg this week, but it should give him a boost going forward into the playoffs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    The Blackhawks had some great teams in the first half of the 90's. I was born 88, so early 90s was even a little early for myself. Someone born a few years earlier would then have had the benefit of a good team during those initial sports fan years. Hockey also has to have benefited from HD more than any other sport, no?     Someone growing up in the 90s like myself is a good example of Chicago sports fandom : NBA- Bulls were awesome NFL - Bears sucked MLB - Cubs sucked NHL - Hawks sucked and were blacked out. I'm a bandwagon Hawks fan. Borderline Bulls bandwagon fan, but they did also happen to just be awesome when first exposed. Not bandwagon for Bears or Cubs. I'm a little bit fair weather on all but the Bears though. Probably more sensitive to the Cubs though than Bulls. Hawks tbd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bandwagon fans are just the likely precursor to fair weather fans. They jump on when a team gets good. If their loyalty wanes when the team is bad and picks up again with success, they make the transition to fair weather. If you become a fan when the team is bad you aren't a bandwagon fan. Though if doesn't exclude you from becoming fair weather later on. Simply, bandwagon describes the circumstances under which you became a fan and fair weather is based on cyclical nature of how you follow them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Nor is quantifying runs as cut and dried defensively as it is offensively. I've wondered how much run saving defense is dependent on chances. Like, is the ball distributed enough across the diamond that each position is going to have roughly the same chances or can you randomly "save" a bunch more runs one year just because 40 more balls got hit your way than the previous year? Whereas with hitting you're guaranteed to get a chance 11% of the time. Basically can good defense be mitigated just because the ball is hit to you less based on randomness...     So possibly they bought at the height of the market at about $9M a piece and then sunk 8 digits into tear down/rebuild on each (is that a reasonable figure?) in 2008 plus upgrades and then increasing interest and late fees for the past 1-2 years? Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    volatile real estate market and the difference in upgrades to the buildings, plus the potential that other properties not related to Wrigley Field are involved? Those are all obvious reasons that still seem like a stretch to account for $12M difference per building (a 200% markup).     I don't get what that means. It would seemingly be very easy to be a fair weather Bears fans. I think he means, that how is he still a fan if he's just fairweather? The Bears have had more bad seasons than they've had good seasons. AKA where is the "fair" weather part that makes him a fan to begin with. They haven't had many great seasons, but they've won more than most over the past decade. They've been in a Super Bowl, another conference championship and despite only one other playoff appearance, they were in playoff contention very late almost every season. They haven't finished more than 1 game under .500 since 2004. That seems like an opportunity to have lots of fans get excited about things looking good and then abandoning them at their worst. Yea.     Jay gets hurt next week vs TB. Things look dismal for Turkey day until Shea McClellin breaks Staffords collarbone. A simplified offense under Claussen puts up 31 and Bears pull off the divisional upset on the road. A 6-6 Bears look ahead to a 3-1 home/road schedule with only one seemingly tough game and a fresh QB controversy.     Ha, playing with this Yahoo generator it isn't even hard to put a scenario that gets a 10 loss team from the NFC South in. What a horrid division. Take Winning% as the baseline. Change NO loses to Chi in Chi (cold weather and all). Then an upset of either Atl or Car @ NO puts a 10 loss team winning the division. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Whelp, they can have him at that price. Tired of this refrain. You are upset the Cubs didn't beat 5yr/$80mil? Basically if it's just an extra year at the same rate we were discussing for a four year deal I'd be a little annoyed, but it really comes down to what else they do. If we have a clean sweep of missing FA over a bunch of extra one years or minimal cost/year figures I'll be definitely disappointed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
