As in he puts himself in more difficult throwing positions or he has more throws? I can't imagine the increased throws should result in that much additional errors as the fld% would remain constant. If it's just that the throws are more difficult, isn't a non-throw part of the decision process a good defender needs to have. Better to field a tough grounder and allow the base hit than make an errant throw an add bases. You still have saved bases, including on advancing runners- you have to know not to give that right back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know as fans we don't necessarily have a great idea whether Bryant can handle third, but you have to hope the FO has a better idea and doesn't need spring training or a few months to still figure out. It's not like it's a position change. He's been playing it all along. With this week all about wrapped up it confirms that top 8 is all but out of the question. Maybe one team could decide to go off on a win streak, but by and large none of the worst teams have even a relatively easy schedule. Projecting their record out, its hard to see anything higher than their current 11, even with a week 17 win in Minnesota, but it is the NFL and even one win against Dal/Det/NO could drop them down several spots.

New Orleans and Atlanta both with big wins... NFC South champ may accomplish winning record afterall

Not a rant, but a random observation of my two teams. I had strong weeks with both teams that secured my playoff berth. However in each league my final standings will be determined by Ryan Tannehill tomorrow. And there is a line where he could helps me in both, but it is pretty narrow. More likely he either drops me a spot in both or bumps me a spot in both. Just weird, and although the regular season standings are fairly meaningless I may rant about this is 2 weeks if it gave me the harder draw in hindsight.

I almost did this too and then had the thought that it's the Bears defense, Bush is out, and he's bound to have at least a half decent day. Glad I did. Also, scored the most points in my league today with Jimmy Graham in my starting lineup and putting up a zero. Without a doubt my worst first round pick ever. Worked out okay. He only outpaced his flex counterpart by 8 and I'm going to win comfortably anyways. Brees finally putting it together and Bills D made my week, even with Ellington going out. he does kind of seem like a classic "recruit amazingly for two years but the team never gets good and everything falls apart" guy. Yeah, the red ass thing doesn't last very long. I have a hard time seeing him getting along with Cutler. He (or any coach) really just needs to get along with Cutler for one year. And obviously if it blows up during year one... you do whatever you have to do in season to subside it knowing you can walk away without much pain that off-season. A two year arrangement with Cutler would be ideal though. I'm not really high on Harbaugh for what he'll command (not just in salary, but I believe FO duties. Don't think he'd necessarily ask/need the full GM duties, but may want final say in certain matters).

Seriously what will Harbaugh take? 4/30 - 5/40 range? Falcons and Jets likely to make a strong push, not to mention Michigan. It will be fierce competition.

Why? Are you looking at it from a McCaskey viewpoint or Emery? If I'm Emery I'm thinking surely I can surely do better this time. If I'm McCaskeys I guess I'm thinking I need a splash if I'm gonna pay two coaches for two years. Also to win the Harbaugh sweepstakes against what is likely many other suitors, you may be canning Emery to do so and giving Harbaugh some FO control. Anyone going after Harbaugh is gonna have a truckload of cash so I think FO control would help seal it, otherwise he's gonna just choose whichever roster he likes best. So if the Bears did part with Trestman; Previous HC: Something I don't think they've ever done. I'll name one O and one D. Jack Del Rio -oversaw some good teams in Jax even though those teams fell apart at the end of his time there. Those teams did well on O and D. He's probably the most accomplished former HC that's still actively coaching. Hue Jackson -While he is an offensive coach, I'll be honest his offenses don't necessarily blow me away- and he's never even lasted more than a year as OC. So why mention him? He apparently got a not great Oakland team to overachieve and has a rep as a great players coach. This is about getting a strong leader and trusting his 13 years in the league with multiple teams will lead to strong coordinator hires. Current coordinators: I'm naming one O and one as again. Defense- Dan Quinn. Even though Carroll runs the show, this is about trying to replicate that Sea Defense. Classic copy cat league move, but if it worked... Offense- I'm going with Seattle again. As much as they've been a success with the D, they've put up strong offenses with a mid round QB developed and not that great receivers. Darrell Bevell also had a decent time with Minn (Favre years). Apparently some don't see him as a HC material and we did pass him over last time. But he has more of a track record than other offensive coordinators that are hot names. Other popular names - Pep Hamilton, Todd Bowles, or two candidates if fired, Jim Harbaugh and Rex Ryan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The DLine doesn't have a stud. But it's well rounded top to bottom and I think you can run it as a solid unit with active rotations as is. If you felt a true impact DE was there at your spot you take him over bigger needs though. I'm willing to bump Bass off the team and everyone else down a spot, especially since Allen is probably gone after next year, even if he rebounds. If you signed 2-3 FA in the DB, I'd lineup my ideal draft like; Rd1- Best LB or DL Rd2- Best OL Rd3- Best DPA (any) Rd4- Speed WR/KR (Eddie royal/Johnny Knox type could get so many good looks) Rd6&7- BPA Resign DLP or equivalent C in FA. Resign Paea. Maybe resign Tillman, but don't count on him. If that Rd1 guy is a DL and not a LB you'd have to target another FA LB like Williams. Maybe you do anyways, but you'll probably have to do some creative structuring and leverage some future cap. We're fairly healthy with the cap, but not as much as last year. LB I'd pencil Bostic at Will. I'd target a MLB in the draft if possible. Bring back Sharpton who can be insurance at Mike and Sam with a possible rookie and Christian Jones competing for those spots respectively. Shea basically would just be in competition with other ST LBers. I'd try and sign two FA DB starters. A S and CB. I think DE is a more important need than just "depth" with questions on how good Houston will be when he returns and Allen is aging and middling (has he had a good game against a starter this year besides Matt Kalil who clearly shouldn't be starting?). Post flu he's been a factor at least. Probably more than any defender, not that it's says much. Yea I'm willing to keep an optimistic view after he can put some muscle back on- we're stuck with him anyways next year. A dynamic pass rusher is basically a no brainier if available, but if there isn't one I think we can roll with the current DLine group as the back 7 is in much worse shape.
