Nagy is not a great coach, but I don't know how how you fully evaluate a coach with a terrible QB The Bears have evaluated coaches with terrible QBs for years, thats not an excuse for that first half.

Pace and Nagy need to figure out what to do with the QB position this offseason, but right now this teams issues go waayy deeper than Trubisky. Maybe Daniel gives you a fake boost, but they'd be back in the same spot in a few weeks, book it. If Nagy can't do significantly better with this team, I'm not sure he should get the chance to coach up the next QB.

I signed up in 2010 and was told to expect the call in February a few weeks ago. Currently scheming with BIL and others to see if we want to all go in and make it happen.

Going into the Charger game, he had only missed a single field goal, and not a single extra point. He had made 20 out of 21 kicks (combined XP and FG). So because he wasn't perfect for the season at that point, he wasn't playing all that great? That's a weird hot take. So it was a gimme!

its all we have to judge on unfortunately. sure, he can get better, he SHOULD get better. but he might not, he might be horsefeathers forever! Well he was also 12 for 15 from 40-49 in college and 5-5 from 50+. Probably some preseason stats we can round up too.. Or he's at least as good this year from 40-49 as the guy that 80% of Bears fans wanted to trade for.

You know what else is a near gimme in the NFL? Not fumbling the football on a run. Not losing yardage on a run has to be pretty good too, especially in comparison to a 80% success rate of a kick.

A 41 yard FG is in no way shape or form a gimme. in the nfl its pretty damn close to a gimme. if you're less then 80% from that distance you're on the bottom 1/2 of the league. Pineiro Dinero is at 50%, the bottom 1/3 of the league fwiw So it's not a gimme.

a 41 yard fg kick should be placed left, center or right in the NFL and be pretty close to a gimme, so Pineiro can kiss my ass. You trying to salvage this year? It's an uphill climb with a top 10 QB at this point, let alone a journeyman.

They have 2 2nds in 2020, theirs and Oakland. Using the traditional trade value chart, the combined values of those is something like a 20th overall pick right now, fwiw. So they definitely could make a trade like Hou and KC did for Watson and Mahomes. Frankly I don't know how you ensure that things "flush out" if you stick with Pace. I think he'll be continue to be aggressive with trading picks. If you're McCaskey are you gonna overrule his draft trades? Give him some sort of ultimatum on his job future? Neither sounds like a good option. I think you have to ride with him or move on. If you want to ensure things flush out, you may have to hand the next GM the depleted draft capital of Pace in 2020 and not wait it out. If that GM really feels a mini blow up is warranted they could at least probably stock up on some mid round picks with the talent base, flush out the cap with dead hits in 2020 and set up for a high pick value in 2021. This is a good point. The Bears are just so screwed. There's no good way to salvage it. You've got a bust QB, the coach who couldn't develop the bust QB, the GM who thought it was a good idea to pay a heavy price to trade up one spot to get the bust QB, and a bunch of empty holes in your draft pick continuum because you bet everything on your bust QB's cheap years. If you fire Pace, what good GM candidate is gonna want to come to a team in this situation? You've got no QB, three out of four recent and future draft cycles were gutted by trades, and the cap hits on the defense are starting to pile up. If you don't fire Pace, you're just leaving the guy who created that situation in charge. My doom boner is absolutely majestic right now. The best part is, I don't think the idea was even wrong. Obviously the execution was. But trying to get your franchise QB at no. 2 overall and then betting everything to build an elite defense for the two-year window where he is on his rookie contract? It was a great idea. High-risk, high-reward. Eh, I think good GM candidates being scared away is an overrated concern. Guys only stay when they know they have the reigns immenently waiting for them like the Ravens guy. Plus GMs are rarely "hot" candidates. It's not like Head Coaches where you just follow the top coordinators get promotions.

As long as they do not pick up the option year, or god forbid, extend him, I do not care what they do with him next season. I don't want them spending $100m on some journeyman nobody who happens to be a hot free agent. Go ahead and make him play for all I care. Believe I've read he's guaranteed money for 2020 and the Bears hold the option for 2021, might as well make him earn it in 2020, somehow. 2021? He's gone. I believe they need to pick up the 2021 option this offseason, but it's guaranteed only for injury. So there's some risk there, but I'd say there's a pretty good chance they pick it up. And yea 2020 is guaranteed and all sunk cost at this point.

Re: wild card, being that 2 of their losses are to AFC opponents could be a good thing for the wild card tiebreaker as I think conference record is pretty high up on the tie breaker list. If they still manage to somehow fall ass backwards into a 9-7 record, they could get the WC tiebreaker since they'll likely beat all NFC teams in those 6 wins (just chalking up the loss to KC)

Probably. We are so screwed on draft picks right now. In 2020, the Raiders' 2nd is the only pick the Bears have in the first four rounds. They bet everything on a two-year window of last year and this year. I'm not even sorry they made that bet, to be honest, but it crapped out and it's gonna take years to unwind. They gave their own 2nd too.

If you're throwing away mid round picks for meh QBs mineaswell throw a future first and some mid round picks and hope it gets you the next Mahomes, or at least Watson. Based on Pace's 1st round track record so far... I'm not sure what you're advocating here. Trading firsts to a team with an elite young QB? Trading up in the next draft? Trading up yea. Verse something like trading a mod rounder for a probably broken Cam Newton.

Also if they cut Davis early enough in the season (week 10 maybe?) the comp pick for Amos is back in play.... If they dont do that I would put the non-move on par with Angelo's Warrick Holdman blunder. It's just pure inexcusable idiocy not to cut Davis at this point.A couple weeks ago I was slightly concerned such a move would be an obvious slight to him and be perceived badly for the Bears in future FA moves but at this point Davis would probably be happy to be out. Call up Nall in his place to ride the bench
