Stop being worried about the D'Backs... They're barely an above .500 team. Yes, they beat us last year, but that doesn't mean they will this year. They're just about as dangerous as any other team in the playoffs (they all are). Probably slightly more so, but nothing worth freaking out about. Face it. Our season comes down to who wins 3 out of 5 regardless of who we face, and any team could knock us out.

The way the Brewers are playing, I don't think 15-5 is out of the question at all. That's if the Cubs only play .500 the rest of the way... which I don't think they've done all year over the course of that many games...

wait, this has to be a joke post it is, right?? Oh geez dude, I meant they are going down like from 99.9% to 99.4% I know, which is why it has to be a joke, right? No I just meant that as someone who has been following the Cubs playoff odds on various sites for the last few weeks, I finally saw them get to 99.9%, but after losing a game in the standings to the 2nd place team in the Wild Card, it will surely go down. Reading the post again, I can understand a little why it was taken that way but use some logic. I've been trying to hard to not offend the Pessimism Police over the last 2 months, so it was weird when I made that post and came back to find multiple people calling me out on it like I think the Cubs will blow a 10 game lead in the final 26 games. I'm not trying to call you out. Just making fun of you. :)

It's not a matter of what was or wasn't expected. The fact is that they were wins, regardless of who they played or what we expected the outcome to be, wins that count against anything favorable for the Cubs. And obviously a bunch of wins in a row vs. the Pirates says something about how they'll do against the Mets, which is essentially what you were implying.

Brewers were just on the road for 5. Home stand starts Monday. ...and they're facing the Mets. How exactly someone would take it as a negative that we have a 4.5 game lead and we're facing the Astros while they face the Mets is beyond me, but whatever. At worst, the matchups are a wash.

Let's also remember that the head to head games are sort of a double edged sword for the Brewers. With this few games left, a split is very bad for them. It gives them six fewer games in which to gain any ground. The only way those games work out significantly positively for them is if they take 5/6 or 6/6. A split or better in the Cubs favor is a very positive outcome for us. And 4/6 for the Brewers is fairly good for them, but not quite the blow they need. Either way, it's an advantage in our favor that 3-3 is a far better outcome for us than it is for them. Of course, this is all subject to change given whatever the lead is at the point that those games come up.

As much as I am pessimistic right now, I'm still saying the Brewers will not win the division. You wouldn't be here right now if we had won the last 2 games. He's trying to reverse jinx, don't mind him.

Uh... Their starters did, no "uhs" about it Hamels did and that's it. How many scoring opportunities did the Cubs waste? Blanton pitched poorly and got let off the hook, Myers gave up what, like, 11 hits? Moyer's line is nothing special either. I'm proud of you dextermorgan.

what did he do Big ol' fistpump right after Sori swung. I've never seen a catcher do that crap (outside of maybe for a game ending out in a big game). That whole team is full of spazzes. Granted, we have Z and Marmol doing the same stuff. But they're on our team so it's ok.
