  2. i wasn't planning on drinking tonight but you guys are making me want to
  3. am i the only one who, while initially thinking the playoff rally towel thing was incredibly lame and sort of contrived, thought it was pretty awesome when it turned into like 25,000 little W flags after the playoff games? i kinda want that to be a thing
  4. i thought so too
  5. .296 OBP last year, .321 career, no thanks. but his last two months. this time he's really gonna be good for good.
  6. Someone over at BCB posted these in the comments. Not sure when they're from. http://fortheartofit.com/storage/IMG_67381.jpg http://fortheartofit.com/storage/IMG_41241.jpg
  7. [tweet] [/tweet]looks phenomenal
  8. Just on a completely personal preference, it wasn't even my favorite of the postseason from him. The one that took the WC game from 1-0 to 3-0 was just as majestic and gorgeously violent, and it completely demoralized the opponents in double elimination game. same
  9. I thought the latest sabr-smarts were that 3rd is a place for about your sixth-best hitter because it has that weird property of coming up with 2 outs/none on a lot. Edit: I see someone else already mentioned it. I really, really like Joe Maddon. bear in mind one of the main writers of that book works for the cubs too
  10. I'm hoping it is just giving a nod to the veteran to start the year and then move Bryant up when he's mashing kind of move. I think it's a tom tango thing, just like chris coghlan batting 3rd so much late last year.
  11. yeah but he was miserable all spring and couldn't find the plate at all iirc so
  12. Maybe a psychological thing. Let him focus on crushing baseballs. Might just be a "Schwarber is a better outfielder" thing
  13. and Scooter Gennett just homered off him
  14. I think Madison Bumgarner might be broken he can't even come close to the plate
  15. paging deucebaseman
  16. Do you have some sort of way that you sync them up or do you just hate the ESPN guys that much that you'll deal with a delay? And it still weirds me the hell out that Coomer's name is Ron. Deal with the delay. Did it throughout entire playoffs. And if La Stella starts I'll be pretty upset. Then you'll be pretty upset.
  17. speaking of 2012, i watched this rizzo highlight video recently and seeing all these other dudes like joe mather was hilarious and painful at the same time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDAZvzgRQ7E

  19. You don't remember them waiting until the exact week where they'd make up for his time up with SD and get the extra year of service time? He worked on some swing adjustments in AAA to close the hole in his swing that had him striking out so much with the Padres too. He was homering damn near every other game in Iowa. It was a brutal wait, even though, yes, LaHair was up earning an all star appearance.
  20. Explain that first sentence. There's plenty of players on the Cubs that have been in the major leagues longer than Rizzo. Longest Cub major league tenure. Szczur has been with the organization longer, but Rizzo has been on the major league team longer. Travis Wood?
  21. I don't like the name of the other Rizzo thread. This one is for good vibes. http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/how-cubs-broke-down-anthony-rizzo-and-built-him-back - This was a pretty decent read
  22. funny you mention it. i agree. and i just saw a thread on that mets forum of terrible people complaining about a woman being in the booth. to be fair, most told the poster he was an idiot, but yeah.
