    I had his baseball card in many forms. he led the league in saves in '87 with a sweet ass beard. Saves were a relative novelty and nobody knew anything back then that has to be the lowest war total for any cy young winner ever, right?

    so my coworker yesterday was telling me how his niece's ex boyfriend or something had just made the angels bullpen. cam bedrosian. well he mentioned that his dad had won a cy young. i just looked him up. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1000766&position=P what in the world? how did this guy win a cy young? is this possibly the worst cy young winner ever? i wanted to figure it out without looking up, but i can't even guess at which season it was. it can't be 84, so i suppose it must be 82, but i still can't wrap my head around that being true.

    they're an all chicago sports station first. i didn't expect them to go all WCUB. the sox are another team in town just like the hawks, bulls, and bears. hell, they're going to talk about the bears a lot more than the cubs. and that's not really a problem. wgn would be talking about current events or something right now, not the cubs.

    remember when the tanaka stuff was going on and some of us were saying that the cubs could easily be in a much better place than the yankees very soon and others of us were ridiculing those some of us tanaka would be pretty cool to have instead of like hammel (yes yes i know butterfly effect disclaimer)

    i couldn't decide whether to root for starlin there or not i have keuchel in my big league and my pitching has been struggling. he hit a double down the line with 2 on and 2 out.

    i love that probably our worst (er, least good) regular went 2/5 with a HR and 3 RBI while having some great textbook ABs...already responsible for a tenth of a win (or at least more than .05 of one) last night

    god football in vegas is the freaking best it really is. i'm an addict. i try to go a couple times a year during the football season.

    i go to vegas a lot, especially during the nfl season. there's something both weird as hell and awesome about 10 AM football. the 5pm prime time games really catches me off guard, though.

    There was at least one guy on GWRB last night who kept reacting to Heyward's AB's like he was relieved he didn't have to "deal with those anymore," like it was this ordeal to suffer through a 6 WAR player last year. he did hit a horsefeathers ton of ground balls last year. i understand how that can be really annoying. especially given what he looks like he should be able to do. but yeah, the overall value obviously washes all that out.

    Montero can DH today with Ross behind the plate. If we're sitting Schwarber because the pitcher is really good against lefties, why would we DH Montero?
