  1. there's brownies in front of me and i'm pretty sure i could eat the entire pan no matter how full i feel and i'm not a sweets/dessert person by any means. when there's birthday cake, i pass 90% of the time
  2. maybe it's just me but the jerseys look a little darker this year...closer to black (not that they're black). kind of like in the 80s.

  4. Alshon is playing tonight
  5. on the plus side, he only needs to work his way back to throwing an inning or so at a time.
  6. That's great news. As long as he recovers, shouldn't impact us all that negatively. Who knows, his arm might be well rested and he becomes super stropy
  7. would be a lot cooler to torment him with schwarber though
  8. remember the whole lefties mash carlos martinez thing and how we've tormented him with lefties

  10. at first i thought chris coghlan might've successfully done this too, but nope.
  11. Actually a fun read from Bernie Miklasz http://www.101sports.com/2016/08/11/cardinals-threat-cubs/

  13. i agree with the part that it's unprecedented and weird, but i never really saw him that way until he got to the yankees and that dumb ass fan base planted him firmly in jeter's shadow (not to mention the yankees making the better SS move to 3B). the ridiculously high expectations for the playoffs set off by their 90's run probably didn't help him, either. set an impossible standard. i'm not sure it plays out the same if the union had allowed him to go to boston.
  14. i had totally forgotten what a huge baseball meatball idiot jason lacanfora was
  15. it's possible to damage it enough that it requires surgical repair if it's torn and detached enough that it can't heal on its own. http://www.healthline.com/health/medial-collateral-ligament-mcl-injury-of-the-knee#Treatment5
  16. The worst MCL is a Grade 3 and it's like six to eight weeks. What is wrong with you people? Haha. you can't fully tear an MCL to the point that it requires surgical repair? i doubt that would heal in a max of 8 weeks.
  17. wouldn't an mcl tear put him out for like a year too? I think it depends on the grade - cutler had that one and played football on it for a few series. that was a sprain (yeah, yeah, sprains are partial tears)...
  18. Even an MCL tear he's done until the playoffs at least. wouldn't an mcl tear put him out for like a year too?
  19. can we please finally win 10 horsefeathering straight?!
  20. how the hell is it possible for one guy to be lapping the field in velo the way chapman does? it's really insane.
  21. Closers with the resume of Chapman don't get used in setup situations. That's just the way it is, no matter how progressive the manager is. At least it seems that way in the regular season. I bet he'd have used Arnoldis there if this waste WS. fitting typo because this trade was even more of a complete waste if maddon doesn't, in the playoffs at least, use chapman in a more creative way than "9th inning with 1-3 run lead" ADDY!!!!!
  22. Closers with the resume of Chapman don't get used in setup situations. That's just the way it is, no matter how progressive the manager is. I think he should use him, and I think he would've been willing to go for the 2 inning save until he blew the game against the Mariners. after that it came out that chapman doesn't like coming in in the 8th inning and that maddon said he hadn't known that.
