not really but if that's how you want to read those conversations, go nuts fwiw i was saying all offseason that there was no way baez would come all that close to those defensive numbers again this season and i think it's weird to complain about bryant basically matching his career numbers to this point. probably underperforming a little bit given the environment now but definitely nothing that crazy considering it's baseball. and, again, in bryant's case, much like baez, a lot of the value you're seeing missing compared to last year is based on defensive numbers which can be super flukey year to year
