  1. i'm just saying...he can say it however he wants...but once it didn't come out within like (generously) 24 hours (i.e. like in a situation where the signing was truly done and darvish's agent told them they were out and it was the cubs), why the hell would the brewers really know the details of his negotiations other than what's being shared with them by darvish and his agent? and the dude's source is obviously inside the brewers given the information he has had. edit - this is not a defense of the dude. if after several hours of nothing coming out, you still believed this to be as firm a thing as he said, you probably should have known better given where his sources obviously are. if it was truly a done deal like he said, it wouldn't have taken more than a day to come out after he posted it. once it didn't, it was obvious that whatever this guy heard was just milwaukee's read of where the negotiations were headed. there's no reason the brewers or a source within the brewers would know anything beyond their own direct interaction with darvish's camp. use your brains.
  2. i always read it that way anyway...obviously his source was within the brewers and there was never any way he knew for certain anything more than what the brewers thought. doesn't make his information useless...you just have to view it through that lens.
  3. because he's been spot on with everything else, including stuff that was pretty off the radar, so he obviously has information if you don't wanna read it that's cool but i'm not sure why you don't see why people are interested
  4. pass on jake. sign cobb in that case. hell, even with monty we'll be fine. I think it would be pretty risky and stupid to not sign one of the 3. Especially with where the market is at, if the horsefeathering Brewers are our only competition for Darvish (at an already depressed price) I don’t see why we wouldn’t go get Jake/Cobb at an even lower price with little to no competition. oh i'm not saying don't sign cobb and roll with monty. i'm just saying they'd be fine as is. but big time pass on arrieta (and i was never nor am i one of the arrieta haters)
  5. I kinda feel the same way, let him go there and bring back Jake and still win the division by 8+ games pass on jake. sign cobb in that case. hell, even with monty we'll be fine.
  6. lmfao that "cubs' biggest fear" line makes me want the brewers to get him sure, pal
  7. you can see the footprints of the new dugouts
  8. Oh man Cardinal fans are about to get so mad online
  9. i'm not gonna blame the dude for trying to get as much as he can but it seems like he's grasping for straws at this point (watch him get 6 years 170M from someone tomorrow)
  10. The Cubs' 2017 Giants season was in 2017. And they still gained something like 12 games on the Brewers in a half season.
  11. "It's far more likely that he improves on that line" is like the definition of delusion/not understanding any of this.
  12. I’m guessing Cobb and Jake want to wait for Darvish to sign so they can squeeze some extra money/years out of the teams left/maybe another team comes bidding for them that isn’t now that loses out on Darvish. Yu just really needs to make up his horsefeathering mind and pick a team. i basically think yu realistically (bc dodgers are unrealistic) wants to go to the cubs and his agent is trying anything he can to squeeze them for more by leaking all this other crap. theo knows how strong the cubs' position is on the pitching market too. i don't think there's a chance in hell he opts to go to minnesota over us, but weird horsefeathers happens sometimes i guess.
  13. where'd you get that interpretation? From Hunter's post: I was assuming that was all stuff that Morosi reported. But where'd you get that it was probable? That post goes on to talk about why it's not likely they can do it in any way that would make sense.
  14. That's exactly who it was. The guy had a lot of racist songs, in hindsight. I was thinking about some of the numbers we had to sing for “cultural” nights and also couldn’t find them online based on lyrics. This, at an incredibly diverse school, with a black music teacher, no less! Wait, where'd you have him? I could definitely see that but I don't remember any of them. Did he do the witch's broomstick song with you guys at Halloween where you'd run around the circle with the broom? and this song lmao
  15. I was recently remembering this incredibly strange song our elementary school music teacher would have us sing in the earlier grades...it went something like, "I am playing Indian, Indian, Indian, I am playing Indian, my face is painted red!" while he banged on a big drum and we were supposed to be doing the "babababa" thing with our hands to our mouths. We obviously thought this was silly and fun as hell, of course. When I remembered this, I'm like, "Man, that was incredibly racist." So I googled the song lyrics to see who wrote this song and there's no record of it on Google. So my music teacher probably made up this insanely racist thing he had a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds doing. Was it Curtis House? That's exactly who it was.

  17. PFF has had him graded highly since he was a rookie. There's always been a big disconnect there vs. what the local media paints him as. This year he got to another level, though, and ranked as one of the best in the league (I think).
  18. Bleacher Report warning - I know they're being taken more seriously these days but still take it FWIW [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. my guess is the brewers got the impression that that's what's going to happen whatever info that guy is getting is coming from the brewers
  20. someone smarter than me figure out if charles is at least right about this [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. unless there's some mlb rule/tax implication i'm overlooking (which i don't think bc it's all based on AAV anyway), there's no good reason to frontload when you can backload. money now >>>>>> money later you would front load as an incentive to a player to take a lower over AAV to protect you from the tax hit. He gets more money sooner, which has more value, while you avoid tax hit. yeah i got what he was saying about 10 seconds after i made that post
  22. you backload them too. if you can backload, all else equal, you should.
  23. i was overlooking the possibility that he suggested to frontload as a feature for darvish
  24. you really don't think Boogie is getting a max? guys of his skill set don't grow on trees. even with an Achilles injury and possibly missing 1-2 months to start next season, I think he's absolutely still getting a max deal. and I'll go as far to say as I hope it's the Bulls that give it to him, even though I'm sure that's probably not going to happen. Man, I don't know. An ACL to big guys is fairly rare. There's not that many teams with cap space. I'm just not sure. I think he might have to settle for a bit less personally. not that it really makes things better, but it's an achilles, not ACL
