  1. I think that's essentially what I was trying to do. :-s
  2. Not that this needs to be reiterated, but Greene has an .828 OPS over the last 3 years on the road (740 AB's), in case there's anyone else that needs to be sold on him. His OPS at home during that same span is .662 (719 AB's). Pretty drastic.
  3. Don't even bother getting into these arguments with wrigley23. He won't even respond to the points made against him, he'll just repeat himself over and over. I've wasted plenty of typing on it already.
  4. Does anyone else see a little bit of irony in this post?
  5. It's no use, dude. Our fantasy skills are no match for the Cubs and their historically great decision makers.
  6. You say it like it only happened once. I was actually thinking it happened twice, but then I thought that couldn't be right.
  7. Then what's "bonzai?"
  8. I don't know why I'm even gonna bother, but I can't help myself. A lot of "baseball people" aren't very intelligent minds and are only in baseball circles because they were good at playing it at some point in their lives and were able to move up the ranks when they were done. That's not to say that that is the case with all of them, but many of them. Why some people refuse to understand this is beyond me. I'm not even saying it (necessarily) about the names you mentioned, but CHRIST, is it that hard to believe that some people in the general population who happen to post on baseball message boards just might be smarter people or better at analyzing the game than this fraternity of former players? Is it also that hard to believe that some of these smarter individuals (although the tide is starting to finally turn a bit) have a hard time getting into the game's upper ranks because this fraternity has historically generally only allowed its own in? Joe Morgan is "in the know," too. Yep, you basically just touched on my biggest pet peeve ever. BTW, you seem pretty certain that Piniella and Hendry think Soriano leading off is a bad idea, considering the fact that they did it all year last year.
  9. The obligatory all star role was usually reserved for Mark Grace and later Sammy, anyway (post-first Sandberg retirement).
  10. I own foos all day with Rich Hill.
  11. Is anyone down to get owned by me on MLB 2K7 on the 360?
  12. Besides, lots of hitters look completely overmatched and foolish against Kerry Wood. I'll never forget when Fernando Vina swung (maybe struck out on?) at a slider that hit him. That was sexy.
  13. Wasn't that the game where lefties could barely hit home runs? Or was it the year before?
  14. Shawon Dunston can't hold a candle to Nomar's 2 productive months as a Cub SS in 2004.
  15. I'm pretty sure Bonsai is the art of cutting those little trees.
  16. That's what she said.
  17. I think they sorta go hand in hand.
  18. Ugh. Lou plans to hit Theriot 2nd. Is Dusty back? I expect he'll be the starting shortstop barring an amazing spring by Cedeno/ another trade. Well, yea. That has never really been in question, unfortunate as it may be. What I and, I think, most were hoping was that Theriot would hit around 8th.
  19. I would think if they got Figgins while not getting Roberts, you'd see DeRosa at 2B and Figgins in CF. That is, unless they trade DeRosa in a package for Burnett or something like that.
  20. The jerk store called, and they're runnin out of your guy.
  21. So you're saying you just made up that little bit to try to get this thread to 120 pg's? (i'm not saying that like i'm mad or anything, i'm just confused) Actually, I read somewhere that someone heard on some radio station that he was interested in returning to the Cubs. I'm not joking, but it probably has 0% truth and it goes right along with this thread anyway. :) I'm pretty sure he actually meant Abe's rumor that is presumably about Roberts, not the stuff about Walker.
  22. I still don't think Sandberg is ready. Of course, if Lou stays for 2-3 more years after this one, then Sandberg might be ready. If he continues to manage. I'd hate to see Cubs fans turn on him if he didn't work out though and I'm not a believer in the hometown guy coming back to play or manage thing. Pub wise it would be nice but it seems more often than not it comes back to burn both sides. Once Hendry gets his extension, I'm not sure I see him going with Sandberg, either. Not that I'd want him managing this team anytime soon, of course. Bite your tongue, man.
  23. And what do we get out of this deal?? Oh, that's right. Jim Hendry's job security. ](*,)
