If the Dodgers play at a 95 win pace for the rest of the year, they’d end up with the same number of wins as the current wild card leaders, assuming those teams play .500 for the rest of the year and none of the other teams right behind those leaders surpass them. Famous last words and all, but the Dodgers appear to be done.
We have 7 position players playing at a 3+ win pace and Rizzo isn't one of them. On the other side of the ledger, we have 4 pitchers playing at a 1+ win pace, 3 are relievers and the other is somehow Chatwood.
This just isn't a great comeback. Because, really, both fan bases would take our last three years over their last three years and both would take our year this year so far, too. I mean yeah, I would for sure. But let's not act like the Dodgers are going away. They'll be contending for the next decade for sure. As opposed to the Cubs making their last stand this year?
Can you sum up the article for ppl who don't have a subscription? They're targeting position players for the first four picks we have or balancing it between pitching and hitting? I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs decided to target young position players w/ high ceilings because right now we suck at finding/developing pitching prospects selected in the MLB draft. The article is at Baseball America and does not require a subscription.
Plot twist, Almora races him in the last game of the series and wins by 50 yards, revealing his true form in a brilliant bit of viral marketing for the Incredibles 2
Can like, one single prospect that's not a supersub/setup man ceiling get hot for 6 weeks until there are shiny new draft picks to ogle? This is getting depressing.
whatever, you guys sound like horsefeathering robots half the time. we were all hoping for a much better start than 21-17 36 hours ago the Cubs were playing at a 95 win pace. Taking a moment to not tie every frustrating thing that happens in a baseball season as some sign of tragedy or ultimate disappointment is healthy perspective, not being a robot. It’s not never getting upset, it’s understanding that the frustration you feel in the moment is not indicative of the larger whole.
The 2016 Cubs went to the All-Star break with a .602 winning percentage. The 2018 Cubs are 2 games going differently from that pace. This stuff is not linear, they aren’t digging themselves any holes in the division, and there’s little reason to think they’re a fundamentally different group than we expected in the preseason. Having to reiterate this every time the Cubs go 48 hours without a victory is incredibly tedious.
You being self-aware doesn’t make the tantrums with every loss easier to read. it's the game thread and the cubs are disappointing as hell, go get a haircut without tipping if you don't like it They’ve won 5 of 7, get a grip
Probably early September after they clinched, it will be great. this fake confidence just comes across as desperate now You being self-aware doesn’t make the tantrums with every loss easier to read.
