  1. They showed video of him playing catch (in the rain!) for a few minutes and A-Rod tried to claim it was distracting the team from the mission of winning games. It was billymadisonnopointsgodhavemercyonyoursoul.gif worthy A-Rod is a dolt. I didn’t say it was a good narrative but the guy has the label. We can whine about it all we want. People having said negative things about Darvish before doesn’t make nonsensical rantings about Darvish distracting the team a foregone conclusion.
  2. It is bad but it is the narrative the guy has to deal with. They showed video of him playing catch (in the rain!) for a few minutes and A-Rod tried to claim it was distracting the team from the mission of winning games. It was billymadisonnopointsgodhavemercyonyoursoul.gif worthy
  3. I just turned the game on and i have to mute the tv, that was an aggressive amount of ignorance packed into only a few minutes
  4. Whenever you get the chance to make a super risky defensive shift to fit a guy with Jason Heyward’s bat into the lineup, you definitely gotta give quality trade assets to make that happen.
  5. Both of their games have been ridiculous too, LAFC collapsed on itself and was lucky to even get a point after being up 2-0 at home 80 minutes in.
  6. I’m guessing it is something from Twitter’s end, unless there was a board software update that screwed things up Chrome doesn't appear to have the problem, so the change is likely either Twitter or Safari, but it does seem localized to Safari.
  7. it appears to only be iPhone, and only in portrait. Landscape on iPhone works, and both portrait and landscape work on iPad. So something about how Safari handles page width, I'd guess.
  8. He has a team option after this year right? Not that they will pick it up or anything even if he turns into an ace down the stretch and wins the world series. I think the idea is the 5 million is inclusive of Hamels' 2018 salary plus his buyout. Or put another way, the Cubs would be absolutely crazy to go into the luxury tax for Cole Hamels given the effort they've taken to avoid that outcome so far.
  9. 1) he can 2) Darvish still exists 3) once september hits you can limit his workload since the entire iowa shuttle is in the pen
  10. I've seen the science on the Texas pitchers and I'm willing to gamble on long man innings out of our 6th best RP with Chavez, but I'm not willing to trust a rotation spot to it.
  11. what if, instead of trading for Cole Hamels, we did not do that
  12. you'll rip my baseball champions league proposal from my cold dead hands I don't see much need for loans and no one would do it with SP, but for relievers or especially position players it's a fun exercise to think what the player return would be. Loans for cash would be dumb.
  13. Dave Cameron still can't believe the Rays managed to fleece the Cubs out of 60 replacement level PAs from Robinson Chirinos before they [squints] sold him to Texas for nothing.
  14. This is a funny way of saying he was traded for Olt, Edwards, Grimm, and Neil Ramirez.
  15. He was the guy who broke WAR in previous years, so probably not surprising that he had a big swing.
  16. Looks like they're having hosting issues. [tweet]https://twitter.com/thecubreporter/status/1021016389316902915[/tweet]

  18. Is that suggested somewhere? I haven't seen any specificity to Gausman/Bundy rumors. As for Hamels, on one hand he's definitely been hurt by the funhouse at Arlington like Chavez. On the other hand, absolutely not.
  19. If the season ended today, the only NL teams not to have made the playoffs more recently than the Cardinals would be the Marlins, Padres, Pirates, and Reds.
  20. This is also the guy one of the Cob minor leaguers nearly killed with a line drive back up the middle. Can’t remember who the hitter was Caratini almost killed him He was also drafted by and about to sign with the Cubs but failed his physical.
  21. I do not follow these things closely, but from those articles it seems like Ozil is using a situation where there is legitimately a reason to criticize him as an opportunity to claim that he's discriminated against, which may also be a worthy criticism. The quotes from the Bayern guy though, woof. Scathing.
  22. The ball was clearly meant for the kid, distributing it is not that guy's decision to make.
  23. how much longer do we have to keep up the charade with Roederer in the AZL
  24. can’t help but think Javy at least keeps that ball on the infield
