    Why couldn’t that be an option other than it being a major geographic outlier? Mexico would seem like the more natural fit culturally but I’m sure they’d rather have a country that A) can bring in more revenue and B) give road matches in the US a home field advantage. Not like switching confederations is unprecedented. I think he was talking about merging CONCACAF and CONMEBOL, which would have some benefits(CONCACAF would love the increased depth of quality, CONMEBOL would love having a better shot at qualifying) but probably wouldn't happen for political and logistical(imagine a Vancouver to Santiago window for qualifying) reasons.

    I just don't really see a ton of upside with Calhoun, his problem has always been more approach than mechanical and he hasn't had the performance or scouting highs that Frazier has had to dream on. Also, you've got Suzuki, Villar, Bote, and Hermosillo who are gonna be coming for a roster spot within a couple weeks, so you don't need an external option to satisfy a desire to punt Heyward and Rivas

    As a Liverpool fan that would be extremely fun, but as a USMNT fan I'm not super jazzed about another situation where Pulisic is in a dogfight for playing time. At least Liverpool has a lot less dysfunction so it would presumably be a less capricious thing than it was at Chelsea. Personally I liked the Milan rumors a bit better for his long term trajectory.

    Has anyone identified an appreciable change to Swarmer's pitches or pitch mix in AAA this year? He had been donged to oblivion in Iowa in both 2019 and 2021, but his HR rate and BABIP have dropped dramatically this year. If there's some repeatable reason for that then yeah he could definitely play the Mills role for a few seasons.

    Schwindel is now over 100 PA since his 24 hour demotion and has a wRC+ of about 130 in that time

    Espinoza being the 27th man and not Kilian might be noteworthy for Kilian's odds of staying up

    Deichmann is showing some signs of life, including some pop that he hadn't really ever shown at AAA. He's 8 for his last 18 with 4 HR (!)

    Mervis and Ball playing like they're racing each other for a promotion to AAA, both are 2 for 2 with a HR and BB

    I'll guess Leiter gets outrighted, Martin recalled from the bereavement list, and Kilian gets the 27th spot for the day They fed Leiter to the wolves to ensure no other relievers went today, he's already yo-yo'd twice, and he's got less utility in the current roster(Thompson+Steele look okay as SP, Kilian is ready, Mills almost done rehabbing). Martin has been on the bereavement list since Sunday so he's probably about ready, and the only other 40 man arms that could reasonably be called up are Newcomb(still probably needs another rehab outing or 3) or Menez(a nobody that would be the 3rd lefty) .
