  1. Mabry walks alot 4BB's in one game though is extremely rare for a Cubs team; I bet that's close to a single game high for the year. oh Fred.... On opening day they drew 7BB's and they're probably gone over 4 several times...I was just exagerating the point that the Cubs rarely walk.
  2. Losing tends to do that, especially when we had several chances early on and did nothing with them. There were a decent number of posts at the beginning because Marmol was pitching, but I see your point. True, and it was also a 4-2 at that point as well....the posting dropped significantly as the deficit increased.

  4. Something is wrong tonight, the Cubs are actually taking pitches and getting walks. Some things never change though I guess because they're still losing by 5 runs.

  6. Wild prediction; even if the Cubs regain the lead, Dempster won't be coming in. Howry has pitched more here recently and he needs to be abused a little bit.
  7. Hopefully Williamson can string together a few nice outings here right before the all-stary break and boost his stock. It'd be nice to actually get something in return for someone we got for next to nothing.
  8. Would it be worth sending him back down to Triple A to regain his confidence? Or see if he can fight through it? His defense has improved quite a bit though and it's the best on the team. I say let him stay up and work through it; there's no way to learn how to hit ML pitching except for staying in the majors. He's proved he can hit AAA pitching so there isn't much for him to prove there. I'm not so sure. I think DLee's is the best. He's the best MIF though and he's probably got the most range of anybody on the team as well.

  10. Pierre just needs a HR for the cycle...and he won't hit one for the rest of the year.
  11. You're nuts. Hendry has tweaked it three years in a row. That much tweaking can only result in awesome execution, or a rash. Our bullpen isn't as bad as it's been in recent years, but when it's over used and mis-used I don't see how stuff like this isn't expected. Some guys pitch several games in a row, and others will sit for days and even weeks. Baker's game management as a whole sucks.
  12. He's Baker's version of Alf....he's almost a spitting image of him IMO.
  13. How much longer do we have to watch this? When can we actually put a winning team on the field....I mean seriously, this is getting really old.
  14. I'm not so sure. I don't think its clear even from the replay that Ronny got the bag with his foot. The point is, players get the call lots of times even if their foot never gets within a 10 inch radius of the bag. That was never the point. I quoted the wrong post  I meant to quote texascub's post about the FSN SW replays. Players might get that call from time to time, but you certainly can't rely on always getting that call. It's called fundamentals; if you get your foot clearly on the bag, you don't even need to worry about which way the call is going to go. Well I think it's obvious that most shortstops or second basemen turning the DP are more concentrated on getting the throw to first rather than stepping of second. And rightfully so because fundamentals are things that should come 2nd nature by the time you reach the big leagues. He needs to know where he is on the field and be able to make the play. I'd expect a big league SS/2B to know how to find the bag without looking for it, and be able to pick up the runner and his target as he's moving. I just don't think the players turning the DP actually EVER think about hitting second, and the runner is rarely called safe at 2nd as he was today. That's what I'm trying to get at; by the time he gets here he shouldn't need to think about it, it should just come as 2nd nature.
  15. i'd rather have wuertz. or farnsworth. Or Aardsma.

  17. Congrats to Biggio for tying Mel Ott on the all-time hit list.

  20. The last replay showed him drag his foot on the bag as he was throwing to 1st. I'm watching on FSN SW so we got different replays I guess, the replays they showed had him throwing rather flat-footed and I never saw him drag his foot.
  21. On the replay, Cedeno's foot missed the bag by 8 inches...it wasn't even close.
  22. Marmol's night is done...Marmol has gotten himself into trouble, but he's also been able to get himself out of it. I really don't like this move, if Prior struggles tomorrow our bullpen is gonna be shot.
  23. Novoa is up in the pen even though Marmol is only at 83 pitches.
  24. Lamb should've been held to a single there. As much as Pierre offense has improved lately, I'm still not very impressed with his D; he could've easily cut that off, but instead he jogged over to backup Jones.
  25. Shucks, no !! All I got is one small spreadsheet and a really crafty programmer !! Define small for me please, I can't invision anything small about all of the stats you've got stored away.
