  1. Should it remain strikeout points > ground outs > air outs?
  2. Right now, SB's are worth .25 and CS are worth -.5 Should that change?
  3. yes or no?
  4. hmm. I'm not sure what happened there. I put in an email to sportsline and I'll get it resolved as quickly as possible.
  5. Please send me a check or pay me through paypal (tim@northsidebaseball.com) in the amount of $10. Also send me a pm when you pay, so I'll remember. If you haven't paid by 2/15 (or made other arrangements with me), your team will be given to another manager. Thanks!
  6. There will be many, many more details coming soon on our annual top 30 project, but I wanted to add a twist this year... I've set up a page where you can enter your rankings for the top 30 prospects. It should be interesting to see how everyone ranks the players. You'll have to be logged in to submit your rankings. I'll put up a page to view the various entries later.
  7. Sorry if someone has brought this up already: With KC likely moving Teahen to the OF to make room for Gordon, would they consider dumping old man Sander's contract for little in return? This is more of a random thought than a well-thought out plan, so don't hold back on the invectives as to the stupidity of it!
  8. Could you all send me a pm on whether you will be returning as a manager in 2007 or if you want me to find someone to take over the team? Thanks!
  9. In the rules, I stated that there would be no limit on the number of players kept per team. I said that the only limit would be on the number of points. If we follow this rule, we will likely end up with a dramatic imbalance in the league as some people really focused on setting up their teams with a large number of keepers and othes didn't put any focus on that at all. I want to reward the people that managed according to the rules, but will not having a limit take too many players out of the draft?
  10. In 2006, we played two games per scoring period. Should that be changed for 2007? One rather radical option would be that each team could play every other team every week. Your record essentially becomes your scoring rank each week.
  11. Rule change #1 - There will be a limit on the maximum number of pitching starts per week. That limit will be nine starts. Those starts can come from nine different guys, but there can only be nine starts in any given scoring period. It will be up to you to police your opponent(s) as it isn't possible to have that automated in sportsline.

    Keepers

Barring some unforseen blockbuster offer, here is my keeper team: c - Victor Martinez (460.5) 1B - Albert Pujols (677.5) 2B - Rickie Weeks (exempt) 3B - Alex Gordon (minors) SS - Troy Tulowitzki (minors) OF - Bobby Abreu (558.5) OF - Matt Holliday (exempt) OF - Delmon Young (minors) U - Gary Sheffield (121) SP - Oswalt (553.95) SP - Verlander (exempt) SP - Jered Weaver (exempt) SP - Billingsley (exempt) SP - Garza (minors) That's 10 on the active roster at 2371.45 points For the sake of clarity, here's the major and minor league breakdown: Major league keepers martinez Pujols Weeks Abreu Holliday Sheffield Oswalt Verlander Weaver Billingsley Minors Gordon Tulo Delmon Garza Justin Upton Trevor Crowe Adam Miller Philip Hughes
  13. I'm looking for offers on one of these three pitchers: Webb, Oswalt, Halladay. I won't have enough points to keep them all, but they're three of the best, most reliable SP in the game. Finding stable starting pitching is the hardest thing to do in this league. IIRC, Juan also said he's seeking to increase the percentage of points from pitching next season. I'm looking for: - Two elite minor league players - Single elite, proven, exempt player at OF or SS - Larger trade that does not add numbers to my keeper roster or points Send me a PM if you want to get a pitcher that puts you over the top in 2007!
  14. Given the deal that was discussed between Colorado, Pitt and the Cubs, I'm going to start a new rumor. I don't really want it to happen, but if the Cubs are thinking about moving the rookie out of the rotation, I want them to set their sights appropriately. Let the word get out! Hill + Jones for Brad Hawpe, who then plays RF for the Cubs. Soriano is given CF. Either Prior, Cotts or one of the other kids gets Hill's spot in the rotation.
  15. I've got a new front page article out there about what the staff looks like at this time. If Prior starts on the DL, I see Novoa as the odd man out. Whenever Prior comes off the DL, someone else will have to go. I'm worried about the choice that will be made at that time. Also, if one of the kids is lights out at Iowa, the only pitcher on the major league staff for 2007 with any options remaining is Hill. However, if everyone is healthy and pitching well, it's a good problem to have.
  16. I'm trying to remember how arbitration salaries are based. Is it entirely based upon salaries of other, for example, four year players? Or does it index against what the general market is doing? If it indexes, this will be both a huge cost and a huge opportunity for us. Z will cost a fortune and Prior could become more expensive. But teams like Florida have to be looking at this market and thinking to themselves, "Awww, crap."
  17. He's mentioned in several threads as a target that people here are excited about. I just don't see the reason for excitement. But I'm willing to be convinced. Anyone care to give it a go?
  18. Have been added to the front page.
  19. Yep, this has me worked up enough that I wrote my first article for the site in goodness knows how long. Link
  20. I am getting a hardware upgrade on my server to improve performance, but the site will be down during this timeframe. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience. Thanks, Tim
  21. A little background first – for those that don’t know, I’ve been involved in an all-consuming project in my day job for the past 12 months. As a result, my ability to add anything to the site has been severely curtailed. Well, the project is finally ending (and I am leaving that job just to be safe!). Now that I’m going to have more time again, it’s time to start looking at enhancements for NSBB. In general, what you’ll see below is that I want to build an infrastructure where the community can build a great knowledge base on various topics. The order of the topics below isn’t entirely random, but it isn’t ordered by any means either. Please let me know what you think, what you’d spend time contributing to, what you’d spend time reading and what might you think might get people talking about the site and coming to visit. Thanks!
  22. I was looking for a replacement for Hall if he's going to be out for very long. Look who was on the top of the list for free agent shortstops over the past 28 days. NOT who I was expecting... http://roadkill123.baseball.sportsline.com/stats/sortable/fa:SS/28d:p/standard

    Add / Drops

For now, I've disabled adding or dropping players. For those teams still in the playoffs, let me know if there are roster changes you'd like to make.
  24. Congrats to the playoff teams: 1. Roady 2. SoCal Cubs 3. Vinestal 4. Buckner Hits a Double There will be two rounds in the playoffs. Roady vs. Buckner and SCC vs Vinestal in week 1. The winners will play in week 25 for the championship.
  25. I just put together my annual spreadsheet for planning my keeper roster. I should be in pretty good shape, though I'm going to be jettisoning a lot of talent. At this point, I've got my 10 roster spots planned and come out to 1920 points (though that will increase the next couple weeks). If I had to decide today, I'd be keeping six points-exempt guys, an entire infield (minus catcher), three OF's and a whole starting rotation. Either Dunn or Abreu will end up in the draft. Hall, Bonds, Lopez, Ensberg, Estrada, Sheffield & DeJesus will off my offense, as well. From my staff, I have to decide which is the odd man out between Webb, Halladay & Oswalt. Then Escobar and all my relievers are toast. All these guys are available for trade, of course. If Garza gets 4 more starts, I'm screwed out of another player, though. How's everyone else looking?
