  1. ...and here's Dexter Fowler and the top of the order!
  2. i think you're forgetting something It was phrased carefully.
  3. lol - no hits, no walks and 29 pitches.
  4. lol - no walks, no hits, third batter not finished: 19 pitches.
  5. Count on him for what? To help keep our lead at double digits? I go back and forth between the rational (no need to upgrade if we're already awesome) and the desire to have the bestest team ever.
  6. I think that the defensive improvement of Baez over Zobrist is much larger than Baez over Bryant. Our best defense with those three in the game probably has Zobrist in LF, Bryant at 3B and Baez at 2B.
  7. Baez continuing to improve and play a stellar 3B pushes Bryant to LF, which leaves the Cubs with no holes that need shored up, barring injury. If they're up 7-8+ games in the division at the break, there's no reason to make a move even if there's somebody drastically underperforming. It just doesn't move the needle enough to give up any talent.
  8. At this point, the Cubs are really taking themselves out of the game at the deadline. Unless a major problem pops up because of injury, they just won't really be able to increase their WS odds enough to make giving up any talent worthwhile.
  9. How have the Pirates been dumb? They still have most of the same young core but dont have the money to spend around it & a little more of their core based around pitching. I think they are dumb in the sense they've never gone "all in." Ie didn't spend once on a big FA or give up the farm for a piece. It depends on their goal. If they want a 12.5% chance of winning instead of a 6.25% chance of winning in any given year, it would have made sense for them to make a move in the past three years to get out of the wildcard spot. If they want to be in a position to continue having a good shot at the playoffs going forward, they can't afford to burn their resources like that in a "win now" effort.
  10. I only include them because the pitching can get dominate. Not overly worried about them on a whole Sorry about this... ...the pitching can get dominant or ...the pitching can dominate
  11. I kinda feel guilty listening to other games and hearing about five runs being a lot. My instant reaction is, "That's cute. They think five runs is a lot."
  12. I still maintain irrational hopes for Stinnett.
  13. I'm willing to set his lineup each week, but I don't want to have to make adds & drops & such. I guess I'd suggest simply making his roster illegal so that he scores a zero each time period.
  14. Rivero gave up his first walk this year in a two inning stint. He's been pretty good so far this year.
  15. Kyle, if you read this thread, still want to take the under on 20+ run games?
  16. They hit 10% of the season two innings in tonight, on pace to win 120+ games. Which is still short of their Pythag.
  17. My prediction for the first promotion is Dewees.
  18. Then again, I hadn't looked at Happ's stats recently. He's already really picked things up. His line since the 0-8 to start the year... .347/.458/.571/1.029
  19. Jeimer with a dong tonight.
  20. he'll have to pick up the pace a lot to force that.
