  1. I don't think they'll have to try tanking.
  2. There are reports that Colorado might make Arenado available. I love Leclerc out of TX.
  3. I really like Leclerc in TX, too. I really don't like trading Schwarber for one of those guys unless we get more in return.
  4. With the other teams in that division, if Cleveland had been good, they should have won about 110 games.
  5. To be fair, the statement wasn't that he can't hit lefties consistently. Just that he couldn't do it. My wife sometimes worries that I'm too literal.

    NFL Week 5

Also, will a kicker have a worse day than Mason Crosby this year? 1/5 on FG's, 0/1 on PAT

Damn, if Fuller just hangs onto that INT, the Bears are 4-0 and the Packers are 1-3-1
  8. Why will it become more of a challenge?
  9. For some reason, it hit me more when I looked at the 9+ WAR seasons. All of baseball during that time (minus Trout) has three. Trout alone has five. That's insane.
  10. I never understood the "Bryce is a generational talent" talk. He's very good, but not exactly "generational talent". Manny is also a generational talent. There can be more than one at a time. If you look at players under 30 in MLB right now,he ranks 4th in WAR since his rookie year. He is only 1.3 WAR away from being second on that list (and a mere 33.3 behind Trout). Also, count the number of hitters that have put up a 9+ WAR in a single season in the past 10 years. I'll save you the work. There have been 8 seasons of hitters achieving 9+ war since 2009. Five of them are Trout (holy crap is he good). One is Mookie this year. Then there's Bryce in 2015 (the other is Jacoby Ellsbury's 2011). Also, Harper owns a bunch of hitting record for teenagers in MLB, including HR and WAR. I'm a bit lost on why you wouldn't consider him a generational talent unless it is a silly semantics thing and you think that ONLY Trout is a generational talent for that "generation" of players.
  11. I have an idea... Since your thing seems to be that you're against everything, how about letting us know what you'd be in favor of this offseason?
  12. Other names I'm hoping can be part of that conversation (for good reasons) Brennan Davis (stays healthy, performs with an aggressive assignment at SB) Nelson Velazquez (improves contact while maintaining or growing power) Aramis Ademan (bounces back in big way, makes it to Tenn as a 20 year old) Brailyn Marquez (stays healthy for full year, perhaps gains another tick and refines offspeed) Brendon Little (uh, does a lot better) Richard Gallardo Unless he gets assigned to South bend, I don't think he'll be in the conversation for number one in the system until the following year. If someone outside of full season ball is #1, that probably means that a lot has gone wrong with the other guys.
  13. 14. Weird. If the site as a whole were compromised, it would be happening on all platforms. So I'd guess it's a function of the ads being served. However, the only ads I'm running are from Google Adsense. I'll report it to them.
  15. Tim.... Heyward, Chatwood, and Montgomery for Cueto (out for 2019 TJS), Melancon, and Watson? Yes? Maybe? Chatwood & Melancon basically cancel out. Monty & Watson swap places with Watson giving us more of a pure pen lefty and SF more of a starter. Which leaves Heyward & Cueto. Cueto is guaranteed to provide no value next year and is no great bet at all when he returns from surgery at 34. Heyward's contract is longer, but the annual cost is similar and Cueto is somehow a worse bet than Heyward. I guess I'd do it. If SF could fix Chatwood, they'd win the deal. But it would also mean we'd need a CF next year unless people trust a Happ/Almora platoon.
  16. Coming at it from a different point of view, the Cubs could probably just pick up options and win 93+ games again next year. They have too many people for the roster as is. Position Players: 12 Contreras/Caratini Rizzo Zobrist/LaStella Bryant/Bote Baez Schwarber/Happ Almora Heyward Starting Pitchers: 8 Lester / Darvish / Hendricks / Hamels / Quintana / Chatwood / Monty / Smyly Relievers: 7 Morrow / Strop / Edwards / Cishek / Kintzler / Duensing / Mills That's already 27 guys that either won't or can't be sent to Iowa. Now, the roster is only at 24 if Kintzler, Duensing and Chatwood are fired into the sun. But it's quite possible there won't be a large quantity of moves this offseason. Bring in Bryce. Add a higher quality reliever. Possibly free up a spot by trading one of Schwarber/Happ/Almora to get the reliever.
  17. You'll have to forgive him. He hasn't been in the playoffs very much. A little over-enthusiastic.
  18. So, with no other changes, we'd have: Zobrist (Bote) Harper Bryant Rizzo Baez Schwarber (Happ) Contreras (Caratini) Heyward (Almora) I mean, that lineup *should* score a crap ton of runs.
  19. The nice thing is that Gray really doesn't need to be fixed. His stat line screams outlier luck on ERA.
  20. The Cubs were willing to trade a ton for a guy who had a DV history and got no real blowback over the long term. Other than this being a different environment after #MeToo, what makes anyone believe they will just drop Addison for nothing? If anything, I could see them hanging onto him until the suspension is done and try to get more for him later. They'll try to run the PR about the suspension being his punishment, him going to counseling, etc. They'll talk about the team as family and how you support your family through thick and thin, etc. I hope they surprise me on this, but I'd guess they go in that direction.
  21. Define All or nothing. I don't think it means what you think it means.
  22. Does this player even exist anymore? Players are striking out at record levels. And the Cubs had Zobrist, Murphy, Rizzo, and Heyward who put the ball in play. Almora not too bad either. That's plenty of non-all or nothing hitters. Unfortunately Schwarber,Baez, Contreras, Happ, etc. were the guys who came up in those situations. So you're picking on Javy here? The guy who led the NL in RBI? The guy who had a .860 OPS with runners in scoring position? Odd choice.
