  2. I would predict resigning Ramirez to a 3-4 year deal at 33 would be unwise. it depends on how hes playing at the time, A-Rod will be i think 33 this offseason and people want to give him a 7-8 year deal, so A-Ram for 3-4 isnt that bad
  3. i guess, but Aramis will only be 33 and im pretty sure that unless he declines at an extreme rate the cubs would resign him to a 3-4 year deal. By then tho 1st base would be open and Vitters could play there or Ram could move there for his hammys and the younger more athletic Vitters could play third
  4. thanks, just thinking about it, the only places he really could play are RF or SS, and from what i think i heard he would not be a good choice for SS, so that leaves RF, but then i guess we wasted last years pick when we took Colvin. 2B doesnt work cuz we have E-Pat. does he have the speed or arm to play RF?
  5. Hey, so I would definitely like some more info on him, what do u guys think his chances are of really panning out to be the next big power hitter that hes been talked up to be? Anyone here actually seen him play before? Where do the Cubs plan on having him play since 3rd base is, along with left field and first base, basically locked up for years to come? What year is he expected to hit the Majors? Not directly related to him, but who have been previously 3rd overall picks in the last 10 years? I know Corey went third, and Prior went 2, and wood went 4, i would be interested to see past 3rd picks to see how well they usually do. Thanks.
  6. Cordero is unfair, him pitching is like cheating
  7. both but leaning toward sori being that bad
  8. none of us even needed to watch to know that was going to happen
  9. i dont want it to happen to anyone, but i wouldnt be that sad if Hendry died from being fat so we could have riot and DeRo play at the same time
  10. ah bull crap my ass that was farther away than the last one
  11. just wanna add, with a win tonight the Cubs are now 6 games over .500 when Felix Pie plays, 13 under .500 without him. My second point is that you can be all "Trammel for manager" and "Lou sucks" but while yes Tram has managed well, if it wasnt for Lou, this team would still be dead. Lou lit a fire and the team is reacting to it
  12. SORIANO GET THAT UNIFORM OFF, UR RUINING CUBS TRADITION, WTF CUBS STOP PLAYING SO UN-CUBBISH
  13. NO THATS NOT CUBS BASEBALL WHAT ARE U GUYS DOING, CLIFF U MISSED THE SHORT STOP IDIOT, DOUBLE PLAYS GUYS NOT RBI'S!!!!!!
  14. tomorrow's my birthday... i fully expect the cubs to lose ya i was being sarcastic, shoulda been more obvious, they never win on my birthday, gg guys, only way we win is if Only Pie and Aramis get to bat, and let Fonso and Lee get a couple plate appearances
  15. happy birthday. thx, but unless im mistaken i cant even remember the last time the cubs won on my birthday, they have have two years ago, but i know they usually lose
  16. its my birthday guys, they will find a way to win
  17. Izturis was nowhere near the play. ya that would be a problem, a pop up in the middle of everyone in the infield is the short stops ball, if Izturis doesnt catch it, let alone get near the play, thats on him.
  18. Really? I Know our outfielders are bad, but come on? Pagan has never shown any promise. That's why we were able to buy him from the Mets for cents on the dollar. Who do you want out there? "Swingin for the Fences Every $@%#ing AB" Jones? Murton, who cant even catch an easy pop-up? Or a disabled Cliff Floyd? I'd put Sori in RF, Pie in CF, and Murton in LF. That's the best overall offensivedefensive arrangement we could field in the OF. nah, if ur gonna move fonso to right, floyd would be just as good at D as Murt, and way better at offense, Murton is trash and shouldnt be anywhere near the starting lineup. Sori/Pie/Floyd should be the OF, while floyd is hurt (ugh) we should use Jones I guess, lol I sadly think DeRo RF, Riot 2B, Izzy SS, may be the best choice until floyd is healthy. anyway, Tyler Colvin will fill out our outfield in a year or two and we should be set: 2008/2009 1. A. Soriano (LF) 2. E. Patterson (2B) (Good pop, great contact hitter, lots of speed) 3. D. Lee (1B) 4. A. Ramirez (3B) 5. Wieters © (Great hitter, both power and average, rocket arm, great D) 6. Colvin (RF) (Great swing, great average hitter, good power, has speed) 7. Pie (CF) (The Gem) 8. Theriot/Izturis/??? SS Thats a solid team, with lots of speed and power 1. Soriano (.280-.300avg, 30-40hr, 80-100rbi, 30-40sb, 100+r) 2. Patterson (.285-.310avg, 15-20hr, 70-80rbi, 50-60sb, 90-100r) 3. Lee (.300-.330avg, 30-40hr, 90-120rbi, 10-15sb, 100+r) 4. Ramirez (.290-.320avg, 35-45hr, 100-130rbi, 0-3sb, 90-100+r) 5. Wieters (.285-.315avg, 20-30(35)hr, 80-100rbi, 0-3sb, 80-100r) 6. Colvin (.280-.290avg, 20-25hr, 75-85rbi, 15-20sb, 75-85r) 7. Pie (.290-.300avg, 15-20hr, 70-85rbi, 20-25sb, 75-85r) ok well maybe im being a bit optimistic but it would be nice if our guys developed into what they were supposed to once in a while
  19. Pie is not in the lineup for Iowa tonight (I believe, not 100% sure though)
  20. "Daryle Ward (or possibly Matt Murton or Cliff Floyd) is to go on the DL tomorrow (back trouble, allegedly, despite the fact that he pinch-hit today), and Felix Pie will be recalled." ://bleedcubbieblue.com/ Pie then would become the permanent starting center fielder (thank God), and would most likely bat 6th/7th. He could be the spark this team needs. Our record this year with Pie is 4 games over .500 in 15(or so) games, while its 13 under .500 without him. Don't give up just yet, I know it may be optimistic thinking and I myself am on the edge of giving up, but this team still has a lot of talent, and Pie brings the energy. The lineup would probably be: 1. Soriano (LF) 2. Theriot (SS) 3. Lee (1B) 4. Ramirez (3B) 5. Floyd (RF) 6. Barrett©/DeRosa(2B) 7. Pie (CF) 8. DeRosa(2B)/Barrett© Barrett would usually bat 6th, but he has been crap lately, so thats why the drop to 8th. I wonder what happens to Jones then. I wish the Lineup could have Ramirez 3rd and Lee at 2 or 5 if his power doesn't pick up, but its been better lately so if that continues then leave it. This division sucks, come on Cubs at least make things interesting!
  21. thats what they were saying, looks like lou changed his mind, who knows whats going on in there? sometimes i dont even think he knows himself
  22. Haha. Yeah right. Boy am I happy 2 B wrong! chris ur such a pessimist its not even funny, i guess that just comes with being a cubs fan i cant really blame u
  23. I do to. That wasn't mean. It's just fairly obvious IMO that this is a bad idea. Heilman's track record hasn't shown much to expect he's anything but back of the rotation material. He has a very unique throwing motion that may cause him to weaken quickly and opponents to get a better look the second or third time through the lineup. He's doing okay in the bullpen, might as well leave him there. You're also trying to trade Jacque Jones and Scott Eyre to a team in contention who does not need a worthless middle reliever (Eyre), nor a poor corner outfielder (Jones). Their RF is having a great comeback season and their LF have combined for a line of .327/.380/.473 and their CF is the second-best on the planet. So no. ah i guess, i guess i just got to high on high watching him own the yankees tonight, but ya, Jones and Eyre are the only people i would give up, but looking at it from the other teams eyes, i would never make a trade for those two
