  1. I've never been as big on Dempster as most here, but it does deserve mentioning that he hadn't pitched in exactly one week according to Fred's stats. ESPN shows him pitching on 6/25, but before that he hadn't pitched since 6/19. So before tonight he'd had one appearance in a week's time. Even more telling, he hasn't pitched in a save situation since May 30th. MAY. [sarcasm] eh why should that matter he's getting paid alot. He should be able to perform in high pressure, high intensity situations, without facing ANY of them consistently[/sarcasm]
  2. I'm sick of the excuses. Dempster's been getting way too many of them lately.        That is absolutely ridiculous. Yay, a rolleyes post. Our "sure thing" this season was supposed to be our bullpen. On the rare occasion that we actually take a lead, it seems like our pen always blows it. Yeah sure Dempster hasn't been in many meaningful games, but isn't that was side sessions and what not are for when you haven't pitched? The man's ERA was 4 and a half before this apperance. That's not that good for the money that he is getting from the organization. Man you sure must have not played ANY competetive sports. How are you supposed to keep your mental edge pitching on the side? Ask ANY closer and they'll tell you, they need Save situations to stay sharp. you can believe what you want to believe but I particularly don't subscribe to the the thought that having your closer in a save situation once every 17 games is going to yield great results no matter how much money he is making, and that if he's rusty pitching in save situations once every 17 games it's all his fault. The "side sessions" and "what not" don't prepare a competetive athlete in a closers role for closing a game out. Think a little. I've played basketball and baseball for pretty much all of my life. But whatever, you have your opinion, I have mine. And did you ever ride the pine for 5 games and then come in and were expected to totally dominate? Did anyone have that expectation? I doubt it. And if you DIDNT ever sit, and you were really good, could you imagine sitting for 5 games in a row and then being expected to perform to your top ability? Once again, I doubt it.

  5. you really don't want to read it. It's gonna make you want to take a bat to Hendry and Baker's head.
  6. Wouldn't it be perfect if this team just tanked to get Dusty fired. Walker can't like him. Murton can't like him. All the youngsters are thrown under the bus. The superstars can't like him (Lee and Aram, because he starts such crappy lineups). the only people that have to like Dusty are Neifi, Jose Macias, Juan Pierre, and Jockstrap.
  7. Obviously when you're only pitching once every 17 games as a closer, it's gonna be hard to get in a groove. Anyone that thinks this is an indication of Dempsters ability, needs to think a little more broadly.
  8. Bwhahahahaha. Part of me wants him to blow it, especially after the Hendry column on mlb.com.
  9. Walker said tonight that he thinks the Cubs are trying to trade him according to Yahoo Sports and the Chicago Tribune. Stupid move - and look likes we're stuck with Neifi everyday. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=rotowire-oddalkerelievesesein&prov=rotowire&type=lgns Well he does walk to much, clogs up the bases, and has our best OBP so Hendry should get rid of him.
  10. Why take him out if he's still in control of the game? :slams own head into sharp steal spike: Are you serious? Yeah. Different pitchers can handle different pitch counts. I think it's been shown that Z can handle a large amount of pitches in a game, probably the most of the Cubs staff. I wouldn't pitch Prior and certainly not Maddux or Marshall that high. But Z is one of those pitchers that doesn't suffer from going deep into games. Would you have pitched prior like that in 2003 when he was cruising along at the third most pitcher abuse points in the game? Would have pitched Wood like that in 2003 when he was cruising along racking up the the MOST pitcher abuse points in the game? He might be handling it now, but 1) He is your STUD for the next 10 years 2) We are out of any meaningful games already in June 3) Why risk your future for a meaningless game? He pitched 7 and 107. That's ENOUGH.
  11. you would be too if you never got to pitch in a meaningful game as a closer!
  12. Hey wait, I didn't think Walker could hit left-handed pitching and that's why Neifimeister was in the game?
  13. I'd rather he hit for himself than Mabry hit for him.
  14. Why take him out if he's still in control of the game? :slams own head into sharp steal spike: Are you serious?
  15. The Brewers announcers are quite good IMO, all though Billy Shroeder is a little bit of a whiner. They never hesitate to compliment or criticize the other team accurately, and they never sugar coat their own players mistakes.
  16. Dusty has made it his life goal to destroy Zambrano's arm. Well he'll accomplish the Trifecta and destroy a once promising starting rotation completely. Might as well go out leaving the place in total shambles.
  17. If Pierre had been performing to his career levels before this year, I would have been fine with that trade. His 11 RBI are CRUSHING Zambrano's numbers by 5. In nearly 300 more At Bats.     [sarcasm]Yea I'll take him after his last year [/sarcasm]
  18. In other news, Ricky Nolasco went 6 1/3 gave up 3 runs struck out 5 and walked 1 and got the win. He now has a 3.26 ERA. Man Pierre sure is worth it.
  19. I think he feels if he closes his eyes and puts his fingers in his ears, everything will go away and the cubs will go 81-0 in the second half of the season. I can't believe I defended Hendry for so damn long.
  20. I really wish Dusty had his face beaten in. Maybe then he'd stop putting Neifi in the lineup. I think I need to not follow this team, because my anger is out of control.
  21. I'm all for him making $10 million for the Cubs next year... ...so long as it's based upon performance incentives. I'd love to see him PROVE he wants to be a Cub his whole career. take the 2 year, $14 million base contract with lots of incentives for innings pitched. I would like the Cubs to try and resign him with IP incentives. I'm just afraid they'll blame 2006 on injuries, and therefore rid themselves of injured players in order to solve the problem. They'll blame the guys who got hurt, without even thinking of the millions wasted on healthy guys who absolutely sucked and the circumstances surrounding those injuries in the first place. Yea I can't see Hendry allowing Wood to bite him in the ass, so he'll go the way of Nomar and totally have a dominant year/career away from Wrigley.
  22. You go to Transactions? I come straight to the main page hoping to see 50 celebratory redundant fire Dusty Threads. It's the one time Mods should allow it.
  23. I'm wondernig if he needs to work on pitching through the tightness, or stretching more... If there is nothing structurally wrong, he should be able to come up with some excercise to help. Of course, that might involve having a competent pitching coach to give him some ideas.
