  1. i don't even wanna make the playoffs now that there's a 1% chance that we could face peavy in the world series. too bad that deal didn't happen earlier in the day, we could've been sellers
  2. Sox won't make the playoffs this year. It's a nice long-term deal for them, but still a good deal for the Padres as well.
  3. Meh, who cares, and it helps us as we still have games remaining vs San Diego. Isn't he out until Sept? Cubs play the Padres by then anyway. I thought he was coming back fairly soon. This is from Rotowire Jul 26 Peavy (ankle) continues to make progress in his rehab, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports, Recommendation: Peavy could still be another month away from returning to the Padres, but it's good to see him moving towards returning as opposed to shutting it down for the remainder of the season.
  4. 3:25pm: Halladay has not been traded, according to Sherman on Twitter. So many wasted words.
  5. Jake Peavy Dealt To White Sox Again By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 3:22pm CST] Not sure what to make of this, but SI's Jon Heyman tweeted that Padres pitcher Jake Peavy was dealt to the White Sox again. Heyman is not sure if Peavy OK'd it. He says the Padres get minor leaguers.
  6. He was mentioned as possibly available a week or two ago. No idea how serious it is now. And your last paragraph is where we differ.
  7. Hill is a better backup catcher than any other backups that are available. Gregg Zaun is light years better. Hill shouldn't be in the pros. I don't agree that Hill shouldn't be in the pros. He's a good to very good defensive catcher who hits about like most backup catchers do. Zaun is much better, though. Hill was really good in AAA. AAA is professional baseball. Hill has all the right in the world to be in the pros. hardy har har
  8. so where is Martinez going to play? Youk's at first and Varitek hasn't been awful this year.
  9. Hill is a better backup catcher than any other backups that are available. Gregg Zaun is light years better. Hill shouldn't be in the pros.
  10. If the Cubs make any more moves, I'm sure I'll be pissed about it. They've been most linked to a lefty reliever, which they got. The only other thing they've been linked to is a platoon partner for Bradley, which I don't want at all. We don't have the money to take on a big bat, so unless the team adds a backup catcher, I don't think any move they make would please me at all.
  11. guys the brewers suck anyways. they can add whoever they want, they wont be in the race.
  12. Note: I've been in the car all afternoon so I don't know all of the details of this trade outside of the players, so correct me if I'm wrong on anything. I don't really know how I feel about this trade. I'm not a big Hart fan, but he's been pitching well. I love Marshall out of the pen, so I really don't want to see him moved to the pen at this point. Grabow is ok but not great. Gorzelanny sucks. I don't feel like this move really improves us at all from where we were at.
  13. Not as much as a friend of mine. They have the same first and last name.
  14. Reed has a broken foot anyway. Then this rumor is definitely garbage.
  15. 1. Who plays center? Reed isn't an every day player 2. Who leads off? 3. Where does Dunn play? Bradley? Soriano? do not want
