  1. Blanco's last start was Prior's last start.... last Tuesday vs. Cincinnati.
  2. Well, actually, they had one on Friday against the Cardinals..... but that makes 2 in the last 17 games.
  3. I've got 4 each for Wed 24 Aug (Atlanta with Williams pitching) and Wed 31 Aug (Los Angeles & Prior). Both sets are upper deck box, way down the right field line. Not great, but not bad. $38 face value. I would entertain any offers for 2, 3 or even all 4 for either or both games.
  4. This is the same Jim Hendry who said that Sammy Sosa would be the CUBS' right fielder in 2005, no?
  5. I have it on very good authority that Barrett is not real fond of you, either.

  7. neither of which will be nearly as bad as the ball-strike calls of Mr. Bruce Froemming. I had the good fortune of meeting Milt Pappas back in 1997. No surprise that even after 25 years Pappas can't even say Bruce Froemming without a sneer forming on his lips.

You hit well, you pitch well, you win. Here's some more interesting stuff.... P/PA W/AB AB/HR R/G 8 losses 3.63 .049 66.25 2.75 2 wins 3.39 .097 24.00 7.50 season 3.62 .076 28.26 4.47 Look at those pitches per AB. The CUBS season total of 3.62 ranks 15th in the National League. League wide, the teams range from a high of 3.84 to a low of 3.53 with a median of 3.74. CUBS opponents see 3.82 P/PA. Discussions about patience at the plate are not new to this board, but it's curious to me how our P/PA drops by 6.5% while the walk rate almost doubles (.049 to .097). Is this some of that elusive "agressiveness in the zone" we keep hearing about ? Or is this an example of running into a couple wild pitchers that are throwing more than their share of meat balls ? Or is this just the common type of anomoly that results from an inadequate sample size ? In any case, we're going to face Chris Carpenter today. If we go up there in total free swinging mode.... I'm not real conviced of a positive outcome. Love to hear your thoughts.
  10. I had this same problem after letting my nephew log in on my computer last month when we were in Atlanta. It ended after I logged in under the regular interface, just as Bob's Keeper described.
  11. I like him too. Especially since the new Patient Barrett appeared after the ASB. Maybe that's been built up too much, I don't know the stats, but he certainly seems to have longer ABs I'd say it's fair to say that he's been more patient. He's definitely improved his walk rate from last year. He's also been a bit better overall. 2004: .287/.337/.489/.826 2005: .286/.352/.502/.854 Interesting ups and downs this year for Barrett...... 13. Curse you for making me think positive! i know. they are sucking me back in again. i cannot kick myself of this habit! May the fleas of a thousand camel infest your armpits for eternity. Thanks, Klinger. I'm assuming that's a "MASH" referece. A little before my time. I actually learned that curse on a study abroad trip in the middle east. I heard Johnny Carson use that line in his Carnac the Magnificent bit long before M*A*S*H was written.... but I rather doubt that Johnny was the first to use it.
  14. Curse you for making me think positive! i know. they are sucking me back in again. i cannot kick myself of this habit! Son, you will never kick this habit. There is no cure !!
  15. Now that's just a bad attitude !!
  16. Forget about beaning somebody... just win !! CUBS are 10-21 when they hit an opposing batter, 44-39 when they don't Go CUBS !!!

  19. No, I sure don't. Only keep 'em on CUBS hitters.

  21. Then you can calmly say "Walker has only 5 GIDP all year, hes a good number 2 hitter." You don't have to make a personal attack/sarcastic comment. Alot of times I post on emotion in game threads. I do however think once Nomar gets better, he should be #2. Walker seems to do better batting 6th, though I'm interested in seeing his stats in different slots. 22. Indeed. Let's hope Lawton begins to distinguish himself today.... and then we fans won't be underwhelmed anymore. Maybe then we'll just be whelmed, eh?
  23. Apparently you've missed some of the pitchers that SHUT US DOWN during the 8 game losing streak. Remember the Reds swept us by allowing 8 runs in the series. THE REDS Hey !!! Don't be dissing that great Cincinnati pitching staff headed up by Cy Claussen, Cy Harang, and Cy Milton !! You just gotta tip your hat when you're in the company of such greatness !! Not to be nit picky... but we got 9 runs off that bunch.
