  1. Man, you talk about self destructing !!!
  2. ... and you pose this question to a group of CUBS fans ???
  3. Are these refs related to those umpires we saw last week ???
  4. How can they call roughness on Urlacher ?? It looked like he never even made contact !!
  5. That was a terrible call. Bears got a break there.
  6. How can we look so bad in the 1st & 3rd, but so good in the 2nd quarter ?? [cliche alert] This team needs to learn how to play 60 minutes.[/cliche alert]
  7. Man... that one hurt all the way over here !!
  8. Nothing yet.
  9. A pair of FG make it 13-3 Bears. Bears have outgained Detroit in the 2nd quarter 206 yards to 16.
  10. That was a real nice pass by Orton under pressure.
  11. That was a very impressive drive. 8 plays, 99 yards, 6:05 7-3 Bears !!
  12. End of the first quarter..... 3-0 Lions. Bears Lions Total yards 10 88 # plays 7 18 Time of pos 3:29 11:31 Penalties 3/10 0/0 This has all the makings of a very long afternoon.
  13. Go to http://www.nfl.com Find the game you want, and click on "listen". It's 9.95 if you buy it by the month, 34.95 for the rest of the season.
  14. Hendry didn't have an option to exercise. It was Rusch's option.
  15. How do you explain the dichotomy that is "Good Rusch" vs. "Bad Rusch" ?? Is it enough to say he Sox in relief but can be a good starter ?? Consider his first 6 starts of the season. Progressive pitch counts of 81, 90, 99 108, 113 and capped off with a 9 inning 122 pitch shoutout of San Diego on 02 June. Then 4 bad starts, followed by 7 weeks of relief appearances (19+ innings) followed by 4 more really bad starts. Then a stretch of 5 very respectable starts....... Rusch IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA W/L 04/04 - 06/02 55.0 49 12 12 24 40 1 909 3.93 6.55 0.16 1.33 1.96 5-1 06/03 - 09/05 58.3 92 54 49 23 52 10 1142 3.55 8.02 1.54 1.97 7.56 0-7 09/06 - 10/02 31.7 34 13 12 6 19 3 511 1.71 5.40 0.85 1.26 3.41 4-0 Totals 145.0 175 79 73 53 111 14 2562 3.29 6.89 0.87 1.57 4.53 9-8 I just have to wonder how different the season might have been if Rusch had put on a pitch count of 100-105. Another thing that caught my eye...... look at that K/9 rate when you isolate only Rusch's relief appearances. Rusch IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA W/L 06/24 - 08/11 19.7 29 17 16 8 23 4 395 3.66 10.53 1.83 1.88 7.32 0-1
  16. it's called overpaying based on save percentage rather than stuff. not a smart move if you want consistent numbers...especially from an important piece like your closer. even a good player is a bad deal based on the money and years you give them. Dempster could have gotten much more than a 3/15 on the open market. Watch the contracts a lot of relivers get that had much worse seasons than Dempster and you will see what I mean. i guess it's not bad if you rate a pitcher based on save percentage. look at the man's WHIP and K/BB, not his ERA. his success won't last. wait till next season and you will see what I mean. :( Are you looking at his numbers just as a reliever, or his end of season stats? as a reliever compared to the other "dominant" closers in MLB. as a reliever (back of the envelop calculations): WHIP 1.23 K/BB 1.96 wagner (0.84 WHIP, 4.35 K/BB) ; ryan (1.14 WHIP, 3.85 K/BB) ; lidge (1.15 WHIP, 4.47 K/BB) Denpster was 4-0 with 33 saves as a reliever. His line....... 05/10 - 10/02 IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA Dempster 57.3 42 12 10 27 51 1 953 4.24 8.01 0.16 1.20 1.57
  17. Memo to Jambrone...... Go directly to hell. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200 Quit trying to IM me, and go celebrate your victory, you worthless troll !!
  18. Well, the season is officially over now. Time for the hot stove league. Time for the free agent signings. Time for the trading to begin. Time for Jim Hendry to step up to the plate and rebuild this team into a championship caliber team. Come on Jim, don't let us down !! What could be better than the CUBS beating the white sox in 2006 in a rematch of the 1906 debacle ???
  19. Have I mentioned that I really really hate the white sox ?
