Barrett & Ramirez aren't hitting or driving in runs, but their keeping their production up by drawing walks. This is good. Jones & Pierre have improved from very crappy to crappy. The whole damned lineup is in a funk, but that's not news, is it ?? Also note that Freddie Bynum is outproducing all of Murton, Cedeno, Hairston and Perez during the last 2 weeks. Sure, it's a very small sample size, but why go ballistic because the guy gets a couple of starts ?? It's just that.... a couple of starts in place of 2 guys who weren't producing anyway. Lighten up, boys and girls. This, too, shall pass.
  2. Holy Hyperbole, Batman !!! Do you realize that Joey Amalfitano, Lee Elia, Charlie Fox, John Vukovich, Frank Lucchesi, Joe Altobelli, Jim Essian, Rene Lachemann & Bruce Kimm have all managed the Chicago CUBS during the last quarter century ???? I say we exhume the body of Frank Chance and prop him up in the dugout and call him the manager. At least he's led the team to a World Series title before !!!! I don't think guys that only managed a couple games can be judged. I certainly hope you're not implying that those 1 game wonders were of any value ?? Of course they can be judged. They're all good ol' boy hangers on. They aren't worth they contracts they got, and they are where they belong today...... retired !!!
  3. Tell us what it was like, Grandpa. we had a very hard time scoring runs, we had lost out best offensive threat to a freak accident a week or so before. Juan Pierre came in to score in the first inning. then jock jones got doubled off 2nd with the bases loaded killing a great rally, the pirates then scored on a infield single by joe randa. then the 8th inning came and matt murton hit the ball just out of the reach of jack wilson, jerry hairston came around to score. Ryan dempster came in to close down the pirates. it was great :-k LIAR. You are accusing the Cubs of ACTUALLY scoring a couple of runs, not to mention accusing them of winning a game? You better have some serious hard evidence to back up the claim. 8) By golly, it happened just like he said....... BOTTOM OF THE FIRST INNING Pierre singled to right field Pierre stole second base Cedeno sacrificed to the pitcher, safe at first on a throwing error, E1, Pierre scored Walker struck out (called) Cedeno thrown out trying to steal, 2-4 Ramirez flied out to center field 1 runs, 1 hits, 1 errors, 0 men left on base BOTTOM OF THE EIGHTH INNING Pierre grounded out to short, 1-6-3 Cedeno flied out to right field Walker walked, Hairston pinch running Torres in to pitch for Pittsburgh Ramirez grounded an IF single to short, Hairston to second Murton singled to center field, Hairston scored, Ramirez to third Jones grounded into a FC, 6 unassisted, Murton out at second 1 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 men left on base 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E Pittsburgh 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 4 1 CUBS 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 x 2 7 1 Two runs.... in the SAME game !!!!

  6. Greene should have been out at second. Hairston took the throw on the wrong side of the bag. Pads announcers have been talking about how both Neifi and Hairston didn't apply tags correctly. Santo's been railing about that for several days, on all the teams we've faced, as well as on us.
