  1. If we can send Izturis and whatever prospects to Boston for Crisp (assuming they sign Drew), I would be fine with letting Jones go. Cleveland and Colorado don't match up well for Jones, but possibly a three way deal could be worked out (Anaheim?). Or even just a three way for the prospects to trade to Boston. I don't see anything in Toronto that helps us (besides the obvious). Trade Izturis and prospects to Boston for Crisp, Sign Lugo, unload Jones and we're good to go as far as everyday players, IMO.
  2. It would depend on who else was on the market. This offseason, he'd probably get 10/220 at least. If he and say, Howard and Cabrera were all FA, it would probably be less. Albert is probably PO'd watching guys like Soriano get paid more than him. Hell, Carlos Lee may well be better paid than Pujols. How crazy is that?
  3. We both know you'd do that anyway. Saucy!
  4. I think Jones is a better player than Mathews overall. I as well.
  5. Drew is not coming to the Cubs via Bruce Miles. I'll take his word for it. I'd love Wells. But any deal involving him starts with Barrett, and probably with Pie/Veal. I would do it. No way do I trade Barrett + Pie/Veal for one year of Wells. I'd much rather trade Izturis and Marshall/Guzman etc. for Coco Crisp.
  6. Don't forget Stubby Clapp.
  7. Pena in CF would be a train wreck. Personally, I like the idea of Crisp. Well at least according to BP's Rate2 stat, Pena's done alright as a CF... 108 in 124 career games. Defensive metrics = less than worthless You only have to watch WMP in the field to know.
  8. Does anyone know of any good Cards/Astros etc. message boards? I like to read opinion from rival fans, but all the boards I can find are overrun with trolls, morons, etc.
  9. It'll be interesting to see what Boston does with their outfield. Crisp and WMP are both somewhat intriguing, if the price is something like Eyre or perhaps Eyre + Izturis. WMP and Jones would make a pretty darn powerful CF platoon. Pena in CF would be a train wreck. Personally, I like the idea of Crisp.
  10. Here I don't know how much that helps, but it's something.
  11. Maybe people misinterpreted so I'll try to make it more clear: J.D. Drew is not playing for the Cubs in the near future. Period. You don't need stats. You don't need to know who likes or doesn't like him. The Cubs are not interested in signing him. They'll use the bulk of their remaining money on pitchers. Agreed, which is why I mentioned "if the demand for an OF'er remained on the Cubs". Obviously, w/Soriano that demand isn't there anymore. Had the Cubs missed out on Soriano, I assume Drew would still be on the radar. I think Hendry would have turned his attention to Lee before Drew had Soriano fallen through. And you know Lee would have signed with the Cubs.
  12. Not happening with the Cubs. He's played for three big-league managers and none of the three has been fond of him. His most recent manager was in the Cubs system as a coach. I'm sure they still talk. So no, he's not coming here. Bruce, we are going to need stats to understand what you are saying. No, I don't care about Batting Avg, HR's or even RBI's. Please help us understand what your saying with stats. All baseball executives are infallible. Oh God, here we go. But if all of his managers disliked him, that is a consensus of opinion. And a consensus of opinion, while not statistically quantifiable, does mean something. Still, that production would have been nice. I won't be losing any sleep over this, though. I don't think TT started the smartass remarks, Cheesehead brought it up out of nowhere for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of people. His response was great. Oh, I know. My "Oh God" was in anticipation of the back and forth I thought was forthcoming.

  14. I just noticed Westbrook's g/f ratio - he is an extreme groundball pitcher. I'm not sure how that would play out if he were on the Cubs, but at least we have half of a great defensive infield. Personally, I'd like to see the Cubs take a shot a Jason Jennings first.
  15. So what's the dividing line between young and old? I'm 29, am I an old young guy, or an young old guy?
  16. Pissing contest, eh? I'm 21, when's your birthday tough guy? Feb 19 That was my birthday first. Ha!
  17. I'm 29, and got sick of heavy drinking long ago. I'd like a little liquor now and then, but I can't since I am with my daughter when I am not at work or school. I get drunk about once every 2 years.
  18. ! I drank a lot of that stuff at a concert in Milwaukee this summer. This is the only other time besides then that I have ever heard the stuff mentioned! It's second only to Indio. Which is hard to get considering it is mexican and isn't imported. I live in San Antonio and its tough to get. I really dont like going down to Laredo and getting shot to get some. People drink sShiner all the time here (New Mexico). Has anyone here had Arrogant Bastard Ale, or any other Stone brews? Now that's a MAN's beer.
