  1. You just don't get it...this is not a very good analogy as it relates to the current scenario. Yeah, I don't get it. Bitter distaste for a guy that had the nerve to play on another team and beat the Cubs. And stopped to watch a homerun. OMG! No Cubs have ever done that (or, for example, shown up opponents by doing a "hop" after every homerun)! I hate him for life and want to boo him and (insert gay joke here)! All this vitriole has very little to do with him possibly no longer being an effective player. i think you'd be surprised. most people on this board don't want him on the cubs because he sucks at baseball. Yeah, but they're not the ones pissing and moaning.
  2. Don't worry, soon they start playing real teams.
  3. It was bizarre seeing him in the Cubs uni at first, but I was over it by his 2nd AB. Considering he hasn't played for a while, I was surprised that his timing wasn't worse.
  4. I wasn't surprised with the K, though. Lou should have PH Johnson. I really thought that flyout was gone off the bat, though. It sounded really good.
  5. No, because Bruce is wrong. I could well be wrong. I've had to talk myself into living with it (like I have another choice). If it doesn't work, they'll just get rid of him. No, you're right. It would only have been bad had it taken PT away from Pie. But since Felix wasn't getting any, it really doesn't make any difference.
  6. This is ridiculous. I can see the game on the EI Mix channel, but when I try and tune to the game, I get the old 721. Someone at DirecTV needs to wake up.
  7. A) Prince is a Boras client. B) Prince isn't about to do the Brewers any favors.
  8. Lee? Really? The only time Lee every says anything publicly is when he whines about booing fans. Right, because to be a team leader you have to air stuff out publicly.
  9. He wasn't a free agent. Yeah, this just buys out his arby years and a few FA years. That said, I still wouldn't have signed that deal if I were him.
  10. Any dislike I have for Edmonds decreased significantly when he left the Cards, and decreased significantly more when I realized the Cubs signing him would cause much grief for Cards fans. And let's face it, if the Cubs were getting Edmonds circa 2003-04, all the haters would be dancing in the streets.
  11. Yup. Not that Prince was going to be anyway, but this pretty much cements it. Though if I were Prince I might sign an extension with the way he is playing now, but he strikes me as a guy who is too proud to give in after his perceived disrespect over the amount he was paid this year.
  12. Can people stop saying this is a low risk move? If he comes in and stinks up the joint, and causes the Cubs to lose games, that sounds pretty high risk if you ask me. Divisions can be decided by 1 or 2 games over the course of 162. Every game is precious. Because we all know Reed Johnson has been tearing it up. No one has said Edmonds will be good. But Johnson is getting all the PT, and he has been terrible lately, posting a .541 OPS in May. As sad as it is, there's not much to lose here. We can all crow about how Pie should be getting most of the PT (as he should), but we all know that wasn't going to happen either way.
  13. Alright! Mediocrity, here we come! Again, this really makes next to no difference.
  14. Well, we all hated Dennis Rodman as well, but that actually worked out okay, didn't it? Everyone needs to relax a bit. If he sucks, he won't play, but I'm sure the Wrigley faithful will rise and cheer the first time he pulls a premature dive to catch a ball or he starts hitting. In the end, it's $284K and a low-risk, maybe good reward move. This would be a disastrous move had Pie been getting any playing time in the fist place. As it is, it can hardly hurt anything.
  15. For once, Cubs and Cards fans may be unified. In disgust.
  16. Please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail please fail. It'll be all right, O_O. You'll make it through this.
  17. That's really really really really really really really really really really unfortunate, because they're one of the best teams in baseball. Please just stop. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing here, because there is no way anyone can defend this move. No there isn't, but in reality it doesn't really change anything, either. Pie was fused to the bench. The only thing that happens here is Reed Johnson loses PT. The real damage was already done before any of this Edmonds crap even started. At least Felix will get to play in Iowa.
  18. It was Noon, CT. Which means we can expect an announcement anytime now, I guess.
  19. And there are two positives lost in this (and it is easy for them to get lost in all those negatives): 1. This could get Kosuke moved up in the order where he belongs 2. It is really going to irritate the hell out of a lot of Cards fans to see "Jimmy Ballgame" in a Cubs uni. (too bad it will gall me almost as much)
  20. Meh, I was more upset yesterday. By the time it actually happens, I will have already been dealing with it for a while.
  21. That would be predictable. The more I hear, the more resigned I am to the fact that Jim Edmonds will be a Cub by tomorrow night. Depressing.
  22. Houston will fall off, their pitching just isn't good enough. Same with the Cards, who began to show their true colors in Milwaukee. The Brewers are the team to fear, though I think losing Gallardo might have cost them their chance at the division, barring someone unexpected breaking out it a big way. Their offense can carry them if it gets going, but not enough to overcome their pitching woes. If anything happens to Sheets, they can pack it in.
