  1. So wait. They're going to protest the Tribune by going to the ballgame and giving the Tribune a whole bunch of money? :-k
  2. I certainly agree with that last line. Sounds like the Cubs failed to do their due diligence, which is kind of like the way they completely ignore objective analysis, and have no clue about the demand for such players as Estes, Alf, Rusch and Perez. It's hard to imagine drafting a guy high without even talking to his coaches. If that's how the Cubs roll, then surely there's no wonder we are this bad.
  3. That's not taking a "shot" at Hendry, IMO.
  4. I remember doing that. Somehow it didn't translate to real life. But then again no simulated game does. Tell that to Wood & Prior.
  5. I'd love to see Colangelo or Cuban take over this team. I could care less about the detractors to such an idea. Yeah, like current ownership is doing such a great job----let's keep the status quo!
  6. Exactly.
  7. He came out after the 4th inning. Len and Bob don't know why yet. I'm scared. We all know it's his legs again. No need to pretend or anything.
  8. How are we with *BOTH* DLee & ARam on the DL?
  9. Somebody needs to tell ARam he needs to take a walk. Day wasn't anywhere near the plate. Make him at least throw you a pitch.
  10. Too bad all those walks clogged the bases
  11. That, ladies and gents, is called execution. I need to wipe the tears from my eyes. Why can't we see this more often?
  12. Christ Almighty TAKE THE WALK RAM. Ball was 2 feet outside.
  13. Yeah he has been neifi-esque lately. His average has dipped to .281 and his OBP is probably under .300 by now. Ouch! Fred, how bout some previous 7 day stats for me? Cedeno AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS 05/09 - 05/16 27 3 4 0 0 0 4 0 1 10 0.148 0.179 0.148 0.327 Yes, that qualifies as major suckage. Ummm, don't we pay a hitting coach damn good money to help youngsters out of slumps like these?
  14. Maybe he got sick of pitching to a guy who is dressed like an Sherman tank.
  15. I know you are being sarcastic but I have seen and heard this excuse so many times I have to comment. The fact that they game Hendry an extension is not an excuse to give one to Baker. All the writers who keep saying you have to give Baker one since Hendry has one are completely insane. This isn't preschool where if one kids brings candy to class he has to share with everybody. You don't justify a stupid extension by saying somebody else got a stupid extension. I agree. But if the Cubs think highly enough of Perez/Hendry/Rusch's performance to give them extensions of more than one year, I find it hard to think they'll not do the same for Dusty- whose level of suckness is at least on par with theirs. We won tonight. Win tomorrow and it's officially a winning streak. BOOM!! Baker extension time baby! 8)
  16. Understood. It's a situation that Hendry has put himself in, however. Basically you're saying he's out of bullets. And I can't argue it. A good GM wouldn't get himself into such a mess.
  17. Once it gets this bad, there's no coming back. It would be a miracle.
  18. Same excuses from Hendry. He has no clue, it's obvious. And here are some obvious responses to Mr. Hendry: Didn't know Prior and Wood would miss time? LMAO. Wake up man, the whole country knew it except you. Thought Rusch and Williams would perform well? Wow. That pretty much says it all, doesn't it? Anyone with half a brain knew they were shaky. Look at the Stros? Sure, pal. Let's. They came back because they had an ACTUAL GOOD BALLCLUB. We don't. And you created it. Time to skip town because you aren't getting it done. The proof is in. Hendry can't cut it. Either the Trib eats that extension and fires him, or we're in for 2 more years of hell. Mark it down.
  19. Without Prior, Wood, and Lee? And with discombobulated position players being thrown in every which way such as Walker & Mabry & Neifi? And with Dempster feeling like the man that time forgot? And with Dusty being as terrible a manager as he is? We might not be 1-13 bad. But we're bad, make no mistake. I pegged us for 3rd or 4th place. As it turns out, that was probably optimistic.
  20. Good. We obviously can't through Hendry's thick skull. Maybe the white hot light of national embarrassment will. On second thought maybe not.
  21. Dusty's postgame said it all. He's a beaten man. There are no answers forthcoming, no moves that will be made. It's suckfest royale, and there's no end in sight.

    Fire Dusty

I am suprised Len and Bob are blaming everything and everyone but the Cubs players and managers for this slide. They leave out the fact that Dusty's batting order is horrible and that the team is playing very poor fundamental baseball. At some point they have to stop spouting the company line and give some objective analysis. Everyone at home can see how bad the Cubs are and it is insulting to hear them blame it on "good fortune" or bad luck. After what happened to Stone I can't say I blame them.
  23. He'll probably trade the wrong guys....probably start with Walker. Oh no. Can't start trading players. Have to extend Baker too. Anything else would be admitting mistakes have been made.
  24. Howry's junk now. What the hell happened to this guy?
