  1. I'm guessing their fans would say Papi. Me too. For the Cubs, I'd go Z first Damn last year this could have been Neifi. In that case maybe we should just make it Woo Woo and cut our losses.
  2. To be fair, Gaetti had a good season with the Cubs, and was pretty good during his Twins days. yeah, i posted that thinking the original thread was just ex-cubs. he probably doesn't belong and really, gaetti had a good 1/2 season. 1999 was horrible It was a half-season yeah, and actually I think Gaetti would be one of those guys Cards fans could point to and say "see? works both ways." But we'll just ignore him and continue with our thread 8-)
  3. Yeah it may have been a poor one, but I tried to get across a point. Pujols may have been telling the truth, but it doesn't make him less of a jerk. The opinion is a matter of bias. In terms of human character, two incidents in which he criticizes the nature of an award within his profession and the skill of an opponent he just faced says much less about someone than one of the game's premier superstars having a reputation for being courteous and welcoming to its fans. He's a Cardinal, and he has enjoyed much success against the Cubs this weekend. That's why I hate him, and that's why you think his opinions make him a jerk. No. It's all black and white, and Red is the devil's color.
  4. Oh yeah, and the maddening thing about Brock was he wasn't very good with us at all. Then he goes from us to the Cards, mid-season, and it wasn't like he waited for another year or two of development to kick in. Oh no, that would be too logical. Instead he starts tearing up for the Cards immediately, and really never looked back. Brock never hit over 100 OPS+ for us, ever. He didn't dip under 100 OPS+ for the Cards until 1977, well into his senior years as a pro. And he went from 77 to 146 midseason, magically, in his trade year. If there was ever an example of this, it's Brock. Good call.
  5. 5.18 ERA, 1.50 WHIP. I'd say Cardinal Magic did not work on Mr. Weaver. I take it you missed the playoffs? I tried to avoid it, but yeah that's where the pixie dust kicked in with Weaver.

  7. No they don't, thats not the new rules. I didn't think so either, but I'd be happy to switch to the McSkullet rules in this case. Call Selig.
  8. Fernando Vina. .266/.339/.331 his last year with the Crew. Hit .300/.380/398 his first year with StL, .303/.357/.418 his second. He was out of the league after a brief stint with Detroit where he sucked in '04. He did fade a bit his last 2 seasons with the Cards though.
  9. Crapola. Root for the D-Backs tonight.
  10. I actually get a kick out of your sig dude, but don't you think in retrospect it wasn't the worst move in the world for Lou? At the very least it took some of the media pressure off the team at a time when they needed it. Lol yea I need to find a new one but havent had time to look. I was at Sat game and Ive never heard Wrigley as loud as it was on Wards grand slam. Its 2 days since, and I still hve no voice lol Haha, yeah there's nothing like that :) I lost my voice on the Lee fight too, I was right in back of the visiting dugout you should have heard the crowd when Young walked off the field.

  12. Looking at the radar maps, they could get this one in without a delay possibly. Expand out to the national radar. Ahh, that was my undoing. I think it'll take longer than an hour and a half from now (one hour into the game) for that mess to get to Wrigley. http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/map/interactive/60613?from=36hour_map_large&zoom=7&interactiveMapLayer=radar If the stuff directly to the south/southwest stays away from Wrigley, that stuff in Iowa shouldn't be an issue for a long time. Over the course of an hour the front edge didn't move a whole heck of a lot, according to the radar loop. Unfortunately that stuff between Aurora and Joliet looks like it might head toward Wrigley pretty quickly. That's OK. We'll muscle up 6 quickies and leave StL weeping as the game is called after it's official. I got my magic 8 ball out today. It's totally confirmed
  13. No more sinking back down. No more I say!
  14. I'd rather see Soriano hit further down, but the guy doesn't do as well and doesn't want to. Kind of sucks. Theriot would appear to be the best leadoff option, easily.
  15. Amazing. They're doing this interview with Mo Vaughn. And I can't believe how quickly I had forgotten about Mo. When did he leave MLB?
  16. Just a tad north of the Chicago dot.
  17. That radar sure looks like it would have to be called.
  18. I forgot to mention that - thanks. LaRussa gets such a bad rap from opposing and even home team fans that it is nice to see him defended occasionally. The reason LaRussa gets such a bad rap is his paranoid/genius act. He always thinks everyone in the press has a hidden agenda they're trying to pursue and it just comes of as arrogant and smart-assed to hit your pitcher 8th. I think a lot of his attitude/personality comes fromthe fact that he's a lawyer and has a massive ego that needs to be stroked. Now with all that said, he's definitely one of the better managers MLB has ever seen. He has had good teams, but he does seem to get as much out of them as is possible. I actually don't mind LaRussa much. But he does seem to say some strange things. "It's one pitch" is certainly one of them, if he is the one who originated it. The other that I can remember is the time he came out in the press and attacked the Cubs for playing our callups in September against a team the Cards were in a race with. It was a truly......eh? moment. First of all, our starters were horrid that year, the scrubs were probably better. But most importantly, this is what happens every year, why should the Cubs make an exception and play crappy starters in September, sacrificing our developing youngsters, just to give StL an imaginary leg up? It was a ridiculous comment. But like I said, I'm a Cub fan who doesn't really hate LaRussa.
  19. Yeah, this is such an advantage for StL it isn't even funny.
  20. Just a slightly annoying little glitch I've noticed since I bought my new comp that has Vista and IE 7. Sometimes when I click on a post or load a new page on NSBB, the screen will freeze for a few minutes before I get control back. It can become an annoyance because the delay happens often enough and there's nothing loading. I found a workaround that is quite strange: if I mouse-over the top of the page, it releases and gives me back control! I don't know why, web controls are not my specialty unfortunately. It's not that bad now that I know how to get around it, but I just wanted to report it in case anyone else is seeing it.
