  2. The goal: Build a HR team to collect the most MLB ROUND-TRIPPERS! Pick a roster of 12 hitters. The first 11 hitters must include: --1 batter from Group A --2 batters from Group B --3 batters from Group C --5 batters from Group D The 12th hitter is your Wild Card and can be any player not listed here. You don't have to pick a WC player on a 25-man roster, but you obviously risk not accruing HRs if your player is stashed in the minors. Post your first 11 selections in this thread. The deadline for posting is 12:04:59 PM Central Time on Friday, April 1 2011. I have extended the deadline by 24 hours! The thread will be locked at the deadline. You must PM your Wild Card selection to me! Do not post it with your entry. It WILL NOT COUNT unless it's PM'd to me by the deadline. RULES Throughout the season, you may make 4 adds/drops to your core roster of 11 players. The following rules apply to adds/drops: --You must drop a player to add another player. A drop/add is one transaction. --You must post your transaction in the HR Derby transaction thread. The transaction becomes effective at midnight CT the day you post it. You will accrue the dropped player's HRs in any game started by midnight CT that day. You will accrue the added player's HRs for any games starting after midnight CT the next day. --No transactions between the deadline on March 31 and noon CT on April 5 and after noon CT September 17. --If you only post an add without a drop or there's any other problem deciphering your intent, the transaction isn't finalized until it's straightened out. --You may make 2 transactions before the All-Star Game and 2 transactions after the All-Star Game. These transactions apply only to the core roster and not the WC player. It's use or lose it -- if you don't make 2 transactions before the All-Star Game, you still only get 2 transactions afterwards. --The player added must be drawn from the same group as the player dropped. --No clones. You can't have the same player more than once. --MLB rules for stats will be followed for any games postponed, suspended, etc. --You can only change your WC player once and only at the All-Star break ... so choose carefully! --I will be providing updates roughly once a week throughout the season. If you have any scoring questions, please post them in the discussion thread or PM me. Final decisions on scoring are up to me. Winner --Anyone can enter. The winner has to be a member in good standing (in other words, not banned) at the conclusion of the season in order to collect the possible prize. -- As of right now, we do not have a prize lined up, but if anyone has something to donate, please send me a PM! *** --Tiebreaker goes to the person who posted their HR Derby team first. --You can change your HR Derby team as often as you'd like before the deadline. Just EDIT your original post instead of posting a new team. If you enter two teams, only the first team will count as your entry. 3. It's an Ex-Sox and Ex-Cub list.
  4. Manager: Joe Girardi Pitching Coach: Larry Rothschild Bullpen Coach: Mike Harkey 40-Man Roster Andruw Jones Boone Logan Damaso Marte Sergio Mitre Nick Swisher NRI's Brian Anderson Bartolo Colon Neal Cotts Freddy Garcia Mark Prior Andrew Sisco Am I missing anyone? Good grief!
  5. I really was hoping Wood's 20 strikeout game would be in this countdown, but in the selection show, they explained games with personal feats were excluded. Meh. :|
  6. (a) I have a nameless 22 jersey. :) (b) Jeff Gray signed a minor league deal with the White Sox, so 34 was available.
  7. Apparently you can order a Carlos Pena - 22 jersey from the Cubs shop on mlb.com Yet on their roster page, 22 isn't listed.
  8. Per Jerry Crasnick on Twitter: Not only the money, but ... I'd rather not and keep Fuku.
  9. 1yr/$1.5M  Surprised Hendry didn't overspend. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/2881713-419/wood-cubs-million-closer-season.html
  10. I am willing to bet this deal will have deferred money, similar to the Pena deal. Hopefully it will allow the Cubs to offer an incentive-laden deal to Webb and then we can call it an offseason (unless they make trades).
  11. Oh well... that's what I get for following too many "experts" on Twitter.
  12. Couple of reporters in SD are reporting Derrek Lee has signed with the Padres. Back to where he started.
  13. No, because Amaro is going to make sure of the Boston/Philly WS, by sending Blanton to Boston.
  14. I've read that the Phillies have money coming off the books in '12, so they could certainly back-load this deal. Additionally, they are going to try to trade Joe Blanton and Raul Ibanez to free up some 2011 dollars.
  15. Well, according to her Wiki page, she did suffer mini-strokes in 2008, but is also a recovering alcoholic.
  16. Thats what she has sounded like everyday since her strokes. Isn't Feder a Chicago guy? Wouldn't he know that?
  17. For those of you watching on WGN; Robert Feder via Twitter is implying that Allison Payne is impared (ie. drunk) on-air.
  18. Rays execs have scoffed at interest in Garza, and Joe Maddon has said through the St. Petersburg Times that Matt Garza will be pitching for them next year. We'll have to see if that's true or not.
  19. Can't wait to hear Harold Reynold's reaction or see his his head explode.
  20. I am for this deal provided that the prospects aren't too many that we could have used.
  21. There's a $16 million club option on Ramirez (which I hope we won't take), a $14 million player option for Dempster (which he probably will take), $12 million mutual option for Silva (which we probably won't take). That's it. Otherwise, it's $4 million total to buy out Ramirez and Silva Here's the spreadsheet from Cot's: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tt7HjIernphaSrv4wMWdUYg&output=html He meant on Pena.
