  1. Phil Coke currently pitching against Baez for Nashville haha took a double take seeing both names up at the same time.

  3. So I know its just one 10 minute stretch, but maybe we don't need to trade Castro?
  4. I'm sitting here wondering which of these brought about the Rangers getting Hamels with their offer: 1. Were we intentionally low balling the [expletive] out of proposals to the Phillies? 2. Did Theo just not want Hamels that bad? 3. Is Rueben Amaro just a windowlicking moron? The last two of those are fine with me, but god damn, if that's what Cole Hamels' price tag wound up being we could've blown the Rangers offer out of this planets orbit without even losing anyone that good. I'm one sour apple at the moment.
  5. I really hope it's no, but given the lack of any movement at all to this point I have no idea whether our FO is going to start chucking rocks into the pond at reckless abandon in the next 48 hours or is going to maintain its placid disposition.
  6. It saddens me deeply that when it comes to Starlin Castro, we've already seen his peak in a Cubs uniform. I don't see him improving for us anytime soon, and at this point it just makes the most sense to include him in a trade to address our needs. I always liked Castro, and it made me feel a little sick today seeing him in the dugout talking and laughing with Rizzo after his HR. He was my favorite Cub for a good 4 year stretch, and now my brain is just viewing him as a trade piece, it's like I'm betraying him or something. That having been said, ideally we trade some package of prospects plus Castro for a solid SP and a solid RP. There is no justification for Beeler or Roach or Richards to be in our rotation again this season. Period. I think the Padres could give us what we need and should like what we have to offer, but I read somewhere that they want Baez (no-go for me personally). Time for the if's associated with my vision for the Cubs: -If we do manage to ship off Castro and keep Javy, Baez to the majors should happen the same day. Naturally, I want us to be in the playoffs this year and I want us to contend for the foreseeable future, and I think Baez in our lineup is best for both those ends. -If we can make something happen with the aforementioned Castro package, it should address our immediate pitching needs and it also sets the stage for all of our cards to fall into place next year. -If Baez has fixed his strikeout issues, and all signs seem to indicate he has, then our infield should be one of the top 2-3 in baseball as soon as next year. Let's go front office. Patience is a virtue, but the team, as it is, has issues. We need another starting pitcher, one or two solid relief pitchers, and probably a decent center fielder to platoon/supplant Fowler. The influx of talent our system has seen under this administration means we have the tools to fix those issues, both by trade and by promotion. Make something happen. Now, if we shop around and find we aren't going to get an acceptable return, I won't be irate if we stand pat at the deadline. It's nonsensical to trade the farm for lower tier players, and if that's all we can get anyone to offer before the deadline we shouldn't do it. Making the playoffs this year is a priority, but it is second on the list of priorities in my book, right behind winning a World Series in the next 3 years. If we have to wait until the offseason to sign the kind of high quality players it will take to fix our holes, so be it.
  7. So I'm going to be attending the University of Nebraska starting this fall. Anyone here interested in Big Red?
  8. It's weird you say that, I had almost the same thought but decided I didn't feel like texting out my speculations on my phone haha
  9. What do we have that the Dodgers would want though?
  10. He looks like he is strung out on meth holy [expletive]
  11. Can't argue with the fact that their stuff is lacking, but they're the best we have right now for the spots they're in. If we had better options to slot into those spots, they would already be here. Until/unless we make a trade for superior relievers (which really is a third priority in my opinion) they're the guys who we are going to run out there 2-3 times a week.
  12. What would it take for the cubs to snag cameron maybin?
  13. I really really want to believe that baez is going to figure it out and be in the middle of our infield with russell for a long time so I'm reluctant to even mention him in trade talks.
  14. That would make you a meatloaf.
  15. Vogelbach CJ McKinney Castro For: Ross Venable Acceptable for us? Acceptable for them?
  16. HEY I'M NO DIVORCEE
  17. Man all my beautiful posts were demolished =(
  18. just noticed this and it's ironic considering the subject of my longer prior post, but if his name had one additional s and one additional n then sontensei would be an anagram for "its nonsense"
  19. Well I'm certainly not ramping up the post frequency just to bounce on all of this haha
  20. Prolonged snark is almost worse to some I'd imagine. I'd rather take a punch to face once than 100 slaps. There's no physical aspect to this, or any other online forum, it's just people posting their thoughts. It can't feel good to be the butt of the joke every time you go onto your virtual thought sharing mechanism. I can understand why some might get pissed as a result of others snark and wit and jests.
  21. I think Eli manning sucks. And shame on ole miss for not embracing the "Admiral Akbar" mascot idea
  22. Jesus Christ alive man I think you're overreacting a tad. You can post whatever you want, but anyone else can as well. It's kinda silly to expect everyone to react civilly to every post.
  23. honestly, I don't get the anti-sontensei vibe. It might be due to the fact that I haven't been here long, but it seems like he just posts/thinks about oddball [expletive] when it comes to the cubs, and just gets endless grief for it. I mean, if he was an uberdouche at some point that I missed, I get it, but [expletive] man, laugh at him if you must, but it doesn't seem fair to, for all intent and purposes, vote him off the island because of it. It almost appears to me as if his bridge is already burned and now his posts are disregarded as soon as you read that he posted it. Even if some/most of his ideas and posts seem completely wrong, since when is being wrong a cardinal sin?
