  1. 8/2 was my 21st birthday. I got a Rizzo autographed baseball that I've taken out of the case and given a quick good luck kiss before each game since. Clearly my ritual is responsible for the influx of runs, sooooo... you're all welcome
  2. To be honest I think on that weird fly ball in the first or second that Soler called for and then it dropped, if Russell had been at 2B I bet he would've made the play. But the Coghlan experiment did work.
  3. I get why you did this. But I want you to take a step back and realize that finding and bumping this thread again just makes you look like a vindictive SOB to a crowd that already keeps you at arms-length.
  4. I don't really understand why the FO wouldn't want to bring Javy up ASAP. There are several positives to bringing young mister Baez up: 1. Extra infield body to give any of Castro, Russell, or Bryant a day off. (Without putting freaking Coghlan in the infield as a starter) 2. Potentially superior to Castro right [expletive] now. 3. Adds a right handed power bat to play around with, which is something that we have very little of at the moment considering Bryant's struggles and Soler's low slugging numbers this year. 4. Let the guy come up and be a part of this wave of player's first playoff hunt. With each meaningful game and big win that these young guys get together, there is chemistry developed and a sense of camaraderie that I have to imagine will affect seasons to come. Get Javy up here and let him be a part of that. I feel that if the alternative is having spots on the active roster filled by Sczcur or Baxter, we might as well call in the best player we've got in AAA for this run. Especially one who definitely has Major League talent and who has made tangible, productive adjustments since struggling a year ago.
  5. Its nice that we can say "turned over the lineup" when we pass our 8th batter, isn't it?
  6. Are Rizzo and Ross best buds or something? I see those two together like 80% of the dugout shots.
  7. That has got to be a truly awful feeling as a relief pitcher. I mean, he's an opponent so I don't feel bad, but it's got to suck coming in and struggling like that in a game that you and everyone else there knows is important.
  8. Hey, the Cubs are what I rely on to make me a not sad sack. Probably not the most productive plan for mental health, but hey, I manage. Also, HAHAHAHAH Castro getting the hell outta dodge right there
  9. This guy has thrown one strike so far.
  10. Lifting him after two dongs and 3 runs in one not so early in the game inning.
  11. Schwarber all amped up too. I love this team.
  12. Having seen Haren now, there's no reason for anyone we have except Wada to be our fifth starter unless he is still hurt.
  13. Oh sweet [expletive] christ... I DIDN'T WANT TO DRINK TONIGHT COBS WHY WHY WHY
  14. Oh [expletive], did anyone else catch Castro whacking his helmet off the railing in the dugout after that groundout?
  15. I can't stand Pedro Alvarez. Dunno why.
  16. Jesus Ross that was literally flat and right down the middle
  17. I get the impression that lot of Castro's issues stem from his mental approach/status. Seems like the kind of guy who can really start performing a lot better if he gets a couple of lucky bounces in a row and gets to feel confident for just a bit. I realize that is a rather vague sentiment and its not founded on anything tangible, but its just the type of player he seems like to me. Also, [expletive] YEAH RIZZO!!!
  18. Half a bottle of scotch down, time to start reading the forum. Cubs looking pretty decent today no?
  19. Someone had posted earlier that they wanted to see the Padres war room right before the deadline. I'm imagining Preller hanging upside down by his legs from the ceiling looking at a playoff odds chart that is backwards with a phone on each ear and demanding each team's best player or prospect for each and every player he has.
  20. Looks like the Mets are gonna get Cespedes
  21. [expletive] ESPN APP JUST MADE ME LOSE IT. I'm constantly refreshing like six twitter pages and two or three trade websites and my phone suddenly blared the sportscenter sound. Some stupid college football update I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT SPORT RIGHT NOW THANKS BYE
  22. Now I'm sitting here anxiously awaiting the details on which minor leaguers got dealt and fretting that we got fleeced
  23. Really interested to see how Hammel does today. He hasn't seemed himself since the injury/pseudo-injury and this start will hopefully put my concerns to bed.
