  1. Yes, Neifi is in (and that's fine).
  2. A likely story. We know you're soft. Like Prior. Take that!
  3. Baker's going to out-LaRussa LaRussa. Bleh.
  4. Slappy vs. Slap Nasty vs. Lucky vs. Frenchie Tough call in the nickname department. They all work. I like Slappy McBunty, myself. But it's a little long.
  5. So it's ok to attack Neifi on this board, but not a precious former minor leaguer? Right on. It's not merit. It's personal favorites here. Whatever. An error is an error is an error. You're the one who seems to grade one error as worse than the other. Lee and Cedeno both made errors. One without the other leads to no runs. But with both, two runs scored. Also, Zambrano needs to pull his head out of his ass there and not get bent out of shape. He compounded the problem. Change the names and you've got a description of game 6. *flashback* ouch. I hate you for reminding me. /smacks Mr. Wood upside the head.
  6. Umm, Frenchie... TAKE THE WALK! Yay -- he did!

  8. errors by Cedeno and LEE = 2 runs for the Cards. Let's cut the Bums. Both of em. (Convenient to only single out Ronny). Lee's error put the runner in scoring position. Cedeno's error wouldn't have led to a run, and possibly wouldn't have led to Zambrano losing it. winners don't make excuses. What the hell kind of comment is that? Are you calling me a loser? It's a good thing most professional baseball players don't have your attitude. WTF is my attitude? My attitude has been to give blame where it is due, to both player. Your attitude is to excuse the veteran because he's shown he's a good defensive player. And yours is to defend the historically sub-par offensive player with overrated glove skills. Don't get so riled up. Umm... he's not defending Neifi. He's saying that Lee's error was as costly as Lee's.
  9. There's a thread on this topic in transactions.
  10. Yep. That would be awesome.
  11. Should be awesome. Thanks a bunch. Being a minor leaguer must be pretty tough. You're always moving around (slowly), living out of bags, not making a lot of money, and you're under constant scrutiny by the organization. Good luck, and we'll be pulling for you.
  12. Okay, okay, how about Williamson, Jones and, say, Rich Hill for JD Drew? I kid, I kid. With Brazoban and Baez on the roster, I doubt they'd be in the market.
  13. Rather than looking at the results one game, let's examine the total body of evidence, please. Neifi is not a good offensive player. End of story. As a properly used bench player, he can be an asset. He should not be a platoon partner or a starter. I agree. But today was just one start. Walker started the other two. I don't have any problem with things so far as long as Neifi is hitting in his occasional start. Same here. I think players perform better with reasonable rest. The body can only take so much, and letting a player rot on the bench is foolish. My problem is really with Dusty's justification for sitting Walker -- it wasn't about rest, it was about defense. Replacing a lesser defensive player with a clearly lesser offensive player for an entire game is pretty silly. Using their relative 3 year OBP's, Walker is at .345 and Perez is mired at .294. That .051 is pretty significant. For each at-bat, then, Baker is sacrificing quite a bit of offensive potential for a defensive upgrade. And the defensive upgrade does not nearly offset the loss in potential offense. Would you sit Adam Dunn for Austin Kearns?

  15. That Murton, what a base clogger. C'mon Ronny!
  16. 3-0? Take some more pitches, Barrett.
  17. I liked it. I don't dislike Neifi. I just don't like him on the Cubs. Neifi to the Cards! And then watch him post up big numbers. Hopefully big double play numbers. :)
  18. Rusch at ... (too easy) You know that scene in the original Terminator, where the manager at the skanky hotel walks by the Terminator's room and asks... "What do you have in there, a dead cat or something?" The Terminator has a list of possible responses scroll by in his vision before selecting his profane response: "---- you, -------." This was one of those moments for me.
