It was unbelievable to me that they didn't start running their offense more through Dempsey when he joined the team. He's just a level above most of the MLS defenders. When he touches the ball, almost every time he makes something positive out of it. You don't want to make him the focus point, but you give him the freedom to roam with good service and he will unlock an opponent's defense. I'm Timbers fan, and I watched a team with Johnson and Dempsey upfront get completely stymied. That's a terrible game plan and/or execution by the players. Either way, it was glorious to see the talent squandered.
