  1. [expletive] castro russell or baez or mendy or la stella wouldnt have got that
  2. i dare say if we get through the 7th with the lead we will win
  3. yeah night time kicked in. i wonder what the split is day / night at petco
  4. This is a team that even at its best is going to strike out a lot. shields secondary pitches are nasty though alot of them start in the zone and end up out of the zone
  5. i cant help but think in a couple years russell will be doing .300/.350/.450 at least.
  6. hammell and shields having fun out there they must have been buddies on the rays
  7. I hope castro turns it around he is killing his trade value #-o
  8. home made okonomiyaki osaka style with yakisoba ohhh yeaaaaaaa
  9. if he was that good pinch hitting, why did all his former teams release him? his defense was bad?
  10. in his mlb career after every time he was called up it ended with being released by said team. maybe they need to clear some Iowa room for Vogelbachs? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Baxter_%28baseball%29 I've heard some one say that this is such a "2014 cubs move" lol
  11. yeah like others said he has played of most of his career however his numbers are very underwhelming. oh well more than likely this is a temporary thing until denforia/la stella is available.
  12. hopefully he gets revenge on shields for those 3 k's on his first game
  13. Alcantara is who I choose to sacrifice to the "at least one prospect must fail gods" so that Javy turns into a beast. if its alcantara i guess the + is that he is speedy as a pinch runner, switch hit, and can play any position pretty good defensively. however he will end up striking out about 50% of the time i imagine You assume this based on the fact that he's never struck out at anywhere close to that rte at any level, including the majors? your right about 35% still i dont mind seeing him for the defense and pinch running.
  14. Huh? Why wouldn't they? I guess I don't understand the point. "Hey, you know who we should try to trade for? Papelbon." "Agreed. We could use him. Let's call the Phillies in a month to see how they feel about it." Obviously that's oversimplified, but I don't understand why a front office would talk about trading for a guy internally when you don't even know if he's available or what it would take externally. You have scouts checking players out all the time. But there's really nothing gained beyond "do we want him or not?" from the internal talks. And I don't know how anyone would know until it was at the point of calling the Phillies. I would think they keep a "wish list" of specific guys they have interest in talking about around the trade deadline. And they'd talk about who should be on such a list and/or who should come off of that list. the timing, the FO having interest or not and all that aside, what would you trade for him?

  16. im hoping who ever it is that gets the call up isnt a DP or K machine
  17. lol @ mets fans putting together shitty ideas like this. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2468629-assembling-the-perfect-cubs-mets-blockbuster-trade-package
  18. Sure, I'm not saying that Medina is a terrible return, but if a bullpen reclamation is the best we can do right now, why not wait until there's actually someone who can take the roster spot? Medina or a Medina equivalent is likely to be available for Castillo in a month or two. I'm no cheerleader for Motte, but I don't share your pessimism that he's hemorrhaging value in his current role. Considering La Stella re-injured himself and the bench was short maybe this was the best they could do knowing they need to get another non-pitcher back on the club. Sczcur has to wait 10 days or something like that, i wonder if they go with an arm or call up Baez... intriguing to say the least.
  19. this morning on the way in to work on the scoreboard update bruce levine reported it was pitching. but no details yet i guess
  20. Presumably they dropped his price when the roster squeeze and bullpen trouble became more pressing. Hopefully they get a non 40 man pitching bullpen prospect.
  21. dang la stella got hurt again http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/update/25188476/cubs-2b-tommy-la-stella-injured-in-rehab-assignment
