I wonder what some folks thought about Rizzo after seeing he had a terrible debut his first time up in San Diego. I think Baez is one of those types, his next shot up he will impress im sure. castro could have the game winning walkoff hit game 7 of the world series and i still wouldnt like him. --- but i'd prolly cry for the cubs lol

even with the small sample size Russells UZR is way better than Castros

The difference between them is likely negligible enough that it's nowhere near the problem you desperately want it to be. Castro isn't playing even remotely close to being bad enough that he needs to be moved off of SS. And, again, if someone has to go to 3B, wouldn't you want it to be the guy who probably has the better arm? You need a stronger arm for SS than 3B Depends on the play. At the end of the day none of us are Joe, Theo, or the cubs organization just nerds who like the cubs alot. But yah personally I feel that Castro needs to put in a lot of work to get back the level of play those great stats you guys told me to look at would implicate especially hitting in the 4 hole.

dont you want your best athlete / defender at SS? if you put those 3 guys next to each other, you cant say Castro has better D/quickness/athleticism than either Russell or Baez

BAEZ WAS WORSE THAN COGHLAN. Christ, I get what you're saying, but you keep acting like they have to make all kinds of ridiculous moves to try and fit these guys on the team and they don't. Baez has had a decent stretch lately, but there's little need to rush him back after how catastrophically bad he was. Let him keep getting better, then start playing him at 3B and/or LF and then bring him up if he keeps it up. Worst case scenario they end up getting an extra year of control on him, which helps if they end up keeping him or trading him. Assuming he comes up in June/July when he would have an extra year of control, i still dont see how you justify keeping castro at SS

Not exactly personally dont think Baez can be any worse than Coghlan and KB needs to goto left.

Nobody is happy with his offensive production right not; needlessly bumping him to a new fulltime defensive position doesn't seem like the smartest way to try and kick start his production. Despite your histrionics over last night's loss, he's not some kind of defensive liability that needs to be moved. your probably right, i just wanna see baez.

Stop this nonsense. the love for castro is mind boggling. You've bragged about not following the team at all for years and seemingly can't decipher his stats to realize that outside of one season he's been a very valuable player, but you think people wanting him to get better is "mind boggling?" Him playing isn't preventing Russell from doing anything. I looked at the stats, and have watched every game this year and he is the most disappointing guy to me.

to be honest i wasnt on the castro bandwagon, why cant he play 2b?

KB's bad throw was pretty sad and Addy dropping the ball he ran out abut 50 ft to grab was a tuff play, but castro fumbling a ball hit right 2 him was unforgivable.

This dude makes me angry every time i see him at the plate. He is throwing his body at the ball, why hasn't Manny Ramirez or Malee talked to him about his approach. And why is Joe batting him 4th? yeah if you have obp machines ahead of you ofc you will get RBI's on singles. It seems like he only gets good hits when he blows a bubble while swinging. Lastly, ppl can say his defense looks better than the past, i can see a bad throw on a tuff grab or ball tipping off the mitt on plays that he needs to have range to get to, but the routine stuff is just ugly. playing at a -0.1 War right now and i hope he can turn it around. i think joe needs to do something to get him back on track. batting 4th isnt the answer.
