  1. I've said my piece and I'm truly sorry if its outraged anyone. I don't condone violence against women, or anyone really. I only suggest people actually look at the facts before coming to a judgement and saying someone "beats women" as if this is a trend and he just can't help himself. And also that I believe in second chances, as does Theo (whom everyone here trusts explicitly). Thats all. He wouldn't get a 3rd chance from me.
  2. I get it, but people are saying he beats women (plural) and should be in prison and basically not given a second chance. I don't agree with that. Are any of you employers? Would you not hire someone who has served their sentence?
  3. I'm going to get horsefeathers for this, but I don't care. This doesn't look like a woman who was beaten or choked, I'm sorry. Something obviously happened and that sucks. But maybe just maybe some people gotta tone down the rhetoric. http://i.imgur.com/RCqPANY.jpg
  4. It was more commentary on the horse being beaten to death in this thread. Someone made a suggestion to have a Chapman: Good Baseball Player and a Chapman: Awful Human Being thread, which I thought was a good idea. It's a terrible idea. That just make it easier to ignore the things that make him a terrible human, and those things shouldn't be ignored. I just think its weird how much some of you guys despise this guy when our ownership, front office, management, players, MLB and even his girlfriend can seem to forgive him and give him a second chance. I want world peace too, but I won't hold my breath. And honestly, look at the pictures. This wasn't a Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. Doesn't excuse it, but some of you guys act like he should be castrated or something.
  5. ...in jail! -half of the posters here Hahaha, it's funny when people have a moral objection to a guy being on their favorite baseball team that is a domestic violence incident in his recent history. Good one. It was more commentary on the horse being beaten to death in this thread. Someone made a suggestion to have a Chapman: Good Baseball Player and a Chapman: Awful Human Being thread, which I thought was a good idea.

  7. well sometimes you need to win the world series and not worry as much about winning the award for most team control. 90 percent of our team is controlled for the next half-decade. how much do you think this increases the chances the cubs win the WS this year? http://i.imgur.com/ThnDneC.jpg
  8. Maybe he doesn't want to get eliminated by Daniel Murphy again?
  9. Chapman seems to want to stay in NY, talking about resigning with them if he does get traded. Doesn't seem like he will extend, but we'll see.
  10. They can inquire all they want, Eloy aint going anywhere
  11. I bet that IF we extend him it wont be for 4 years. 2 maybe.
  12. I'd be shocked if Theo was consulting Rizzo & Lester (or any players really) on any deal. Maddon, sure. You may be right, but I think Lester asked for that before signing here (to be consulted on potential big deals). And with any other guy I'd say you are 100% correct but when its a guy who already had an incident with Rizzo I would lean towards he at least ran it past him.
  13. Are you a Bears fan? Or rather, were you a Bears fan after they signed Ray McDonald? Honest question. I'd imagine if we complete this deal, same thing applies. He messes up in the slightest bit and he's gone.
  14. I almost want him not because I truly want him but because I dont want Washington to get him.
  15. Hell, every single person here has cheered at least once for John Lackey at some point this season. Most of us have been around here in one way or another when Ben Christensen was part of our org. Its professional sports, not a season of The Bachelor with your daughter the "star".
  16. If Rizzo and Lester are OK with it (Im assuming they would be consulted) along with Joe, then I'm fine with it, too. Plus it'll piss off Dusty.
  17. I really don't want to make excuses for anyone who batters/threatens women but I do pause a bit when its someone from a shitty background like Cuba. How much education did Chapman receive as a kid? What kind of family structure was he provided with? Again, my stomach turns even typing this out that it appears that I'm defending the guy, but its not like he's a frat boy or Ray Rice or something, someone with a college education. Of course it doesnt' excuse any bad behavior, but some of these guys don't have the same upbringing we all did, and young people do make mistakes.
  18. Im ok with trading Torres for Chapman.
  19. In my head I am picturing Almora bedside for the delivery and a baby boy comes out with a MLB logo birthmark on the back of his neck and he finally puts it all together.
  20. 3-3 with a double and its "easily" DJ's best game of the season? That's all it takes? He's been that bad?
  21. With his contract, batting him 8th or 9th just doesn't seem realistic. I think maybe he should try batting right handed or blindfolded or something though.
  22. He sucks on offense but we should have enough other sluggers that we can afford to keep him and his beautiful defense. Defense is beautiful, sure. That .639 OPS makes my eyes bleed though.
