  1. I don't think they always play that for a dong, I've hear "Whoop there it is" already this year Yeah, I hear that one too. But if they're going to have multiple songs, SHC is... not a good choice.
  2. Am I the only one who would prefer a new Dong song? "Sweet Home Chicago" isn't a party song designed to send the fans into a frenzy.
  3. If you ever get frustrated with this team for any reason, pause this video at 35 seconds.
  4. With his glove you can't leave him out I mean, we're up, 13 games right now? What's the harm in trying to have him sit out a couple/few days to work on things?
  5. What can be done about Heyward's swing at this point? I don't regularly watch full games, but man, it is beyond brutal. Does he take a few days off to literally just try and reset things? We can't have a giant donut in the playoffs offensively, can we?
  6. There's one other and I can't remember who he is Nick Ahmed EDIT: nevermind not this year, looks like we solved that particular mystery Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
  7. Not only is he walking more hitters (you were def right there), but he's now likely hurt. Good call!
  8. I love him too. Maybe this is a bit nitpicking, but I found myself incredulously agreeing with Hawk on the broadcast today. On Russell's throw in the ninth, it didn't look... normal? Hawk then alluded to he might be having some shoulder discomfort. I hadn't heard anything about that. Btw, I switched over to the Sox broadcast for my own personal enjoyment at all times the cubs did well. He was fawning over how good Baez, Russell, etc are. Pretty shocking.
  9. An idea I haven't seen here yet is: Re-sign Chapman in the offseason and perhaps look to deal Rondon? Given that the high end reliever market has become valuable in acquiring a nice haul, could they utilize Rondon to help replenish what they lost in the Chapman deal? Additionally, the Cubs are completely playing with house money on Rondon, whose history of arm injuries (yes, he has been healthy obviously the last few years) is concerning for us having to decide on a rich contract for him in a couple years. An elite arm in the 'pen like him could bring back significant value. Also, could he be included as a piece for a young starter?
  10. We've got all the momentum. We've overcome the Richard. Warren escaped after making some awful pitches. Fowryzzo coming up. Dong time.
  11. Soler and lesser prospects for Miller? He's still got what, 4-5 years left at a highly reasonable rate. Would be perfect for the Yankees....
  12. You'll find a reason to bitch about anything. The guy has given up 4 ER ALL YEAR. Why? Nobody can hit him.
  13. I hope we do. He deserves a nice contract, he wants to be here, and he just fits with this team. I'll be disappointed if we lose him. I think it'd be hard for him to put up a season like this again. This front office's MO doesn't seem to be willing to pay for past performance, no matter how emotionally sentimental it'd be. I think he'll get a 4 year deal somewhere this offseason. He's still not that old. Just don't think it'll be from us.
  14. You're not paying for just a reliever for this season though. I understand the hesitation to give up a great package for a rental player, but Miller will be elite for this team for 2.5 years where our window is at its peak for being the alpha dog in the league. I highly doubt a package centered around Vogelbach would get it done for Miller.
  15. The reason that Almora is so valuable to us is that he's going to fill a clear positional need at a time when we'll need pre-arbitration eligible players with big raises coming soon. He allows us to spend in free agency to upgrade the rotation. I'm not all that familiar with Happ, other than it sounds like he might be blocked in the coming years. Would he, as the center of a package for Miller or straight up for Chapman, be a worthwhile endeavor?
  16. I used to run fairly regularly (3-5 miles multiple times per week). Plantar Fascitis hit. I now only run when I have to. I'm fine for 1-2 miles, but I go far enough and its no bueno for DAYS.
  17. I'm not sure how having three offensive players who need to have the ball in their hands to be most successful is a recipe for success. I think Niko's gonna be a stud this year being the only guy on this team who can shoot a 3 consistently, but it will be weird to watch them try to gel. Teams might play strictly zone against this team of great shooters.
  18. I just watch Javy in the field and see so much plus fielding potential that can be offset if he isn't an .800 OPS guy per season. He's extremely valuable in the field. I love his aggressiveness and while sometimes its misguided and a wee-bit overzealous, he isn't afraid to make that mistake on the base paths. That's where having Joe here is so vital. In the past, those kind of things would get a promising young player buried (ahem Dusty). And while I'm not the biggest fan, Almora kind of falls in that same boat in terms of providing significant future value with his defense. While we'd love to have a lineup of guys who are all in the top 1/3 in the league as a hitter, that probably isn't realistic. Almora will (likely) provide enough defensively to make up for his (likely) offensive shortcomings. A lot of this becomes possible with a future hitting star behind the plate, Schwarber coming back next year, and Heyward likely outperforming his current production into next season.
  19. I loved reading about how the Cubs consider their major free agent acquisition this offseason is going to be Kyle Schwarber. He's a monster at the plate and this team knows it. He's going nowhere.
  20. how much fun did you have watching this game? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200504240CHI.html Because I had a lot of [expletive] fun that day and I'm OK with admitting that. A lot of fun. That whole season was fun, but that's because they were young, it was the first time they were good in seven years, and like umfan said, they had a pretty bright future going forward. Teams like Golden State, OKC, and probably the Wolves as soon as this year only got better by being really bad over the course of time. Of course, you have to actually hit on the draft picks when you get there. I don't care for GarPax at all, but the one positive that the Bulls regime has always had is that they're actually pretty good at drafting players. I just don't get what the Bulls end game is. As of right now, they're going to be in probably the same position next year as they were this year. A .500 team that would either get smoked in the first round, or wouldn't be bad enough to get a high lottery pick. And then you waste another year of Butler as your highest asset while you still aren't any closer to contending for anything anytime soon. Just for clarification sake. Everyone talks about Golden State, but their three best players were home grown and drafted 7th, 11th, and 38th overall. There are other ways to build championship contending rosters other than strictly bottoming out.
  21. I live in Korea where everyone is rail thin. Some tall too. I might be able to swing a jersey from one of the local shops that make them on the spot.
  22. Maybe this is me being greedy, but this team, as constructed, is the best Cubs team I've seen in my life. They have a noticeable weakness in the bullpen while still boasting a ton of desirable assets for any team. Get players who are going to be far and away an upgrade over the current status quo. If there's some pieces that have to be mortgaged from the future, then so be it. This team is not going to be hurting for position talent anytime soon. The entire current starting roster, sans Fowler, is going to be here next year. There's enough depth to go out and get an elite difference maker in the bullpen.
  23. Miguel Cabrera was arguably the best hitter in the National League and was traded for a bunch of junk at the age of 24.
  24. I'm listening to the Nats feed (thanks Virginia) and the announcers are literally the worst I've ever heard. hahahahah zobrist!!!
  25. Sounds like Tarasenko went out for a skate issue...
