  1. Not the best inning in the world, but I'll take it. Keep an eye on Gallagher's velocity. He was hitting 95 early on, but seemed to be 90/91 after getting hit in the hand.
  2. It ricocheted off of his pitching hand. Lou and the HP ump are now chatting and laughing.
  3. Of course! Everyone in the dugout is still laughing about it. I'm wondering what was said, you never see that kind of reaction (on both sides). Bob thought it was Lou pushing the umpire's buttons and joking around, given that Lou's the one who's laughing the hardest about it.
  4. Of course! Everyone in the dugout is still laughing about it.
  5. Everyone cracking up at the ump yelling at the Cubs' dugout. It's like a class snickering when the teacher chews out one of the students.
  6. Nothing says ESPN like two drunk rambling idiots calling a game.
  7. Chris Berman and Rick Sutcliffe in the ESPN booth? Len and Bob it is!
  8. Would the obligation to pay that deferred payment transfer to any team who trades for him, or would the Mets still be on the hook for it?
  9. Beltran's contract is fun! Link I'd love to have him in CF, but man, the last few years of his contract are not pretty. Also, can anyone explain the money deferred thing? I remember it was what killed the Diamondbacks for a number of years, but I can't quite remember the mechanics of it.
  10. The wind here has been howling all day. It actually kept me up last night since it rattled my windows non-stop.
  11. And you sort of predicted this, right? It's a nice little stretch, but it's still very little. His season long and May OPS are still just 702 and 707, respectively. He's going to have to sustain this for a while to impress me. Definitely. He has to keep this up a lot longer to impress. But the BB rate is my primary concern right now. He's a career .290+ hitter so far, so I don't have much doubt that he's NOT going to hover around the .240s much longer. That and we already know he can put up pretty good power numbers. Heck, if the guy can finish the season at .280/.358/.469 (this year's IsoD and last year's IsoP, if you're wondering) while playing a good CF, the guy will make a strong case for being the top Cubs prospect. Those aren't superstar numbers, but I don't think anyone would complain about getting that kind of production out of CF.
  12. I think he's just an idiot.
  13. I stumbled across this free article on Baseball Prospectus that provides a wonderful insight into the MLB draft process. It's from Rany Jazayerli's series of articles. It's about two years old, but it still holds a lot of water. Link There's a lot more in there. I recommend perusing it so that you all can more effectively criticize the Cubs' selections come draft day. :D
  14. Good day all around for most of the notable hitting prospects. Sam Fuld is breaking out of his slump (which was as bad as Pie's), Colvin walked and doubled twice, Eric Patterson is continuing his consistency, Pie did some nice work at the plate and on the basepaths, and Brandon Guyer is emerging as a potential name to watch down in Peoria due to his nice power showing in his ABs thus far.

  16. Good news everyone! None of the farm teams lost today. :D
  17. Good to see a win! That definitely was a game the Cubs should have lost roughly a dozen times over. I'll take it.
  18. It was like that Freedom isn't Free song from Team America... My favorite song from that soundtrack: I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark, When he made Pearl Harbor. I miss you more then that movie missed the point, And that’s an awful lot girl. And now, now you've gone away, And all I'm trying to say, Is Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school, He was terrible in that film. I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part, He's way better then Ben Affleck. And now all I can think about is your smile, And that movie too, Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you (Interlude) Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies. I guess Pearl Harbor sucked, Just a little bit more then I miss you.
